The Lagoon Triangle
I knew I could capture the Lagoon Nebula and the Trifid Nebula. I was really hoping to catch all the nebulae clouds off to the right of the Lagoon Nebula (to catch a big nebula triangle) and boy, this approach sure worked great for that.
All The Proof I Need
The Little Green Guy stood perfectly still for 21 frames and then on the 22nd, he said "That's it, I'm outta here!". I made the most of it while he was there and I hope you enjoy the results.
M20 - Trifid Nebula
There's something about the combination of both pink and blue colors from a single nebula that I find really interesting. This is the Trifid Nebula (aka M20) located in the Sagittarius Constellation near the core of our Milky Way galaxy.
M31 - Andromeda Galaxy
I've had some interest in deep space astrophotography and here is one of the results. This is the Andromeda Galaxy (aka M31) and it could very well be earth's closest neighbor. It's so close you can almost see it with the naked eye.
Tide Pool Flow
I was lucky enough to join @D4White5d2 for some exploring on the Oregon Coast and this spot with tide pools at Cannon Beach was one of my favorites. This picture may look still but the motion of the waves was a big part of the fun!
A Swipe With The Claw
Of course I still love the Milky Way, but I also love capturing images that show a sense of time. That's where we get to go beyond the 3 dimensions we're so used to seeing so we can step into the 4th.
Leading A Horse To Water
I don't think it was just me that felt something special at this spot at Firehole Lake in Yellowstone National Park. With the gentle steam and the glowing stars reflecting in the calm water, the view was stunning.
Castle Geyser 1on1
This is me giving one of our workshop students photography instruction during great milky way conditions at Castle Geyser in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
Sensor Heat
With really warm temperatures, our workshop students' cameras were running a little hotter than normal. No, their cameras were not exploding but I did have a little fun with it in this single exposure image captured in Arches National Park.

Forever In Paradise
Sure, I may love capturing the night skies with my camera. But I also love to take it all in with my eyes. I love when I'm not just seeing nature, I'm feeling it!
Stairway To Heavenly Windows
Sometimes it's all about the journey and this spot shows that as good as any I've seen. North Window in Arches National Park, Utah
When A 5 Star Hotel Just Isn't Enough
No, I was not really camping at this location but it sure makes for a fun picture! Light from glowing stars, a rising moon, and a little tea light inside my tent combined to make this longtime vision come to life.
The Magical Moment
It's one thing to see nature but to really experience it together with others (who value it as well) can be even more magical.
Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah
Milky Way Skylights At Double Arch
If you're lucky enough to visit Arches National Park, please treat it with the utmost respect.Β Many people follow leave no trace and I like that.Β What would you think of going a step further and actually picking up a piece of trash?
Exploding Ring Of Fire
During our last solar eclipse, I was mostly looking to just enjoy the experience with friends and family.Β But when Tony said "ok, that's the end of totality", I gave it a few last clicks without a filter.Β And that's how I found a big ring in Wyoming.Β :-)
Mike Takes On The Moose
Just in time for the holidays, I've posted my review of the Moose Peterson MP-3 Backpack.Β With separate storage compartments and auto-closing moose ear flaps, this is one unique pack.Β Check out my review atΒ https://t.co/Nnsf1c8fr8.
