A reminder that the free Open Hockey Conference will take place online at 9AM EST, December 18 2021 (a week from now).
Later today I'll share an expanded list of presentations & times.
I see lots of people on Twitter who are angry about how much it costs to attend Sloan.
If this tweet gets 100RTs I'll do a one-day mini-conference on a variety of hockey tactics/analysis/coaching topics over Zoom for free.
Who's interested?
Every series loss becoming a moratorium on the faults of the losing team's best player is some fisher king sympathetic magic nonsense. "The crops fail because the ruler is sick, he must be exiled" is the best we can do for analysis.
You're going to see a lot about the strength & courage it takes to battle chronic illness in silence because a truly wonderful individual made that personal choice
Please remember you are just as strong if you need the help of friends and family or Vlog or yell on social media

I went to a Q & A with Peele & somebody asked him “you were intending symbolism with that scene right? Separating the white from the color?” And he was like “I like that but no. I just tried to think of the world’s most psychotic snack. That was fruit loops and milk separately”
The @MapleLeafs are the first NHL team all-time to come back to win after trailing by 3+ goals in the final 5 minutes of an elimination playoff game.

Call that unfortunate play all you want, but the Jake Muzzin incident would not have happened if NHL referees consistently called crosschecking penalties. Knowing it would not be called, P-L Dubois knew he could crosscheck Muzzin from behind with impunity.
I hate this crosscheck to the back from Dubois.
I'm reminded of Daniel Sedin's response earlier this year when I asked about whether he got used to the constant crosschecks he took to the back throughout his career: "I mean, I had back surgery, so that's what happens."
The mask debate, like virtually every other major conflict in American politics, can be boiled down to "I don't know how to convince you to care about other people."
