Everyone presents these fun tricks like they are talking to adults. These are 2nd graders with limited abstraction skills. Because of the proximity to the standard algorithm, it's better, but it's still a goofy unnecessary abstraction to push a thinking skill. Now we have to keep new imaginary numbers in our heads. From a 7 year olds perspective, its confusing. What in the world is a forty-twelve?
