Takashi Iizuka’s first project with SEGA was the planning/designing of Devi & Pii. You play as siblings turned-paddles Taro and Hanako, ordered by the Goddess to recover the Pii while avoiding the Devi’s attacks. Devi & Pi was unreleased until M2’s Mega Drive Mini 2 in 2022.

Sonic Chief Creative Officer, Takashi Iizuka says Breath of the Wild is his favorite Zelda game!
"The Legend of Zelda has had a profound impact on both my life and career as a designer. The first game I played was the original The Legend of Zelda on the NES and Disk System, and its revolutionary design, offering freedom, exploration, and intuitive mechanics, shaped how I view game development. I’ve played every entry in the series since, and working with the Zelda team on Sonic Lost World was a memorable highlight of my career.
While each game is unique, Breath of the Wild is my favorite in the franchise, as its expansive world and unmatched sense of discovery brought back the same joy and wonder I felt playing the original."

Now we’re in the 2000s! The party won’t stop there either. For now, enjoy everything this decade has to offer.
See you again soon in the 90s!

New video.
Takashi Iizuka has never given up on the Sonic franchise. From the highs to the lows, he's seen it all.
I always felt compelled by the guy, so I wanted to highlight his origins, creative passion, and other things.

BTW, Iizuka-san himself does care about Sonic. I've seen it in his action, I've seen it in his words, and I've seen it in his face, so don't go off slamming him with this. We're not all perfect, and there are people and things he is beholden to as well. Sonic Team belongs to Sega
