On Thursday, 27 August, at 3:00 p.m., we will have a deep and meaningful discussion on my book, Somalia: A State in Search of Exceptional Leadership, organized by the SIMAD Graduate Faculty. This is more than a discussion of a book; it is an opportunity to reflect together on Somalia’s difficult journey, the leadership challenges that have shaped our past, and the lessons we must draw for the future.
Your presence and participation would mean a great deal to me. I warmly invite you to join us, share your thoughts, challenge our ideas, and contribute to a conversation that I hope will deepen our understanding of Somalia and inspire renewed hope for the kind of leadership and nation we aspire to build.

This is lazy credential-bashing. That title represents years of rigorous research and proven expertise — it’s a legitimate signal of credibility, not ego. You’ve built companies by hiring exactly those credentialed experts. Dismissing the title wholesale fuels anti-intellectualism and the very Dunning-Kruger problem you criticize. Real builders respect real expertise.

Advancing to the #AFCON2027 group stage qualifiers is a historic milestone for Somalia. The EU 🇪🇺 is proud to witness the power of sports in uniting communities and inspiring the next generation of Somali youth.
Honoured to present my Letters of Credence to H.E. Nicușor Dan, President of Romania. Somalia and Romania have enjoyed strong diplomatic relations since 1965. I look forward to deepening our bilateral cooperation and strengthening the partnership between our two nations.
One issue that unites Somali people across all regions is the government's decision to sever ties with the UAE.
For too long, the UAE has been a disruptive and destabilizing force in Somalia. They have exploited Somalia’s weak federal system, meddling in our internal affairs and using our territory as a base to destabilize other countries in the region.
It's time to know the current stance of Somali elites. You are either with Somalia or against Somalia.
I fully support Somalia's cabinet decision to cancel ALL agreements with the UAE—including ports, security, and defense pacts. Our government has finally acted to protect our sovereignty and unity against long-standing interference. Better late than never. #SomaliaFirst#UAEOut"
Israel’s so-called recognition of Somaliland risks strengthening extremist groups such as ISIS and Al-Shabaab and undermining regional stability.

Grateful to the President of the UN Security Council, Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman, and to P4P briefers Bert Koenders and Hiba Qasas for advancing evidence-based, experience-centred principles at today’s Arria-formula meeting at UNSC —key to a paradigm shift toward inclusive and sustainable peace.
The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held today in Jeddah to discuss developments in Somalia.
H.E. Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha emphasized that the recognition of the so-called "Somaliland" by #Israel, the occupying power, is a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional security, asserting that Somalia’s unity is a red line.

In 2011, I became a teacher— a calling I have never grown tired of nor regretted. Since that day, I’ve learned that teaching is not just a job, but an honor, an act of worship, and a service to the community.
I am grateful to be among the Somali educators whom Allah has guided to help shape a successful, grounded generation—young people who serve their faith, their people, and their nation.
Sending my heartfelt salaam to all my dear students, wherever you are in the world. 🌍✨
Happy Somali Teachers Day!
This was 25 years ago, during my swearing-in ceremony for the Transitional National Parliament at Arte, Djibouti — a moment that marked a new chapter in Somalia’s journey toward peace and state-building.
I am proud to be born a Muslim.
I am proud to be born in Somalia.
I am proud to have become an American.
None of you can change that no matter how much you rage tweet.
