Two reasons why we do:

The extra length promotes better spacing from the ball, cleaner posture, and more intentional barrel paths. It discourages arm-dominant swings and helps hitters stay connected and rotate properly rather than casting or pushing the bat.

@CVColtsAD 2026 @coltonprosperi training with a long bat… Colton has been hitting @ PVS longer than anybody (11 years). He’s incredibly adjustable/ his swing and miss rate is minuscule & he competes!!!

Here he is tonight Training with a long bat (we use an aluminum 37” fungo). A long bat provides several key benefits for hitters:

🔹Improves barrel awareness & control — The extra length forces the hitter to develop a better feel for where the barrel is throughout the swing. With a longer implement, small mistakes in barrel path or release become more noticeable, helping refine precision and consistency.

🔹Enhances swing path and mechanical efficiency— A longer bat encourages a more efficient, on-plane swing by making it harder to manipulate the barrel with just the hands/arms. It promotes better overall movement quality, helping hitters maintain proper bat path through the zone rather than casting or looping.

🔹Promotes better overall swing mechanics and movement quality— The added length challenges hitters to stay connected and use their body more efficiently, reducing reliance on arm-dominant swings and improving coordination between lower body, core, and upper body. @blastmotion metrics back this up but the feel is the biggest sell. The sweet spot is the size of a quarter- you have to hit it well or it’s stinger city.. and as @GowagsKyle says: “pain is the best teacher.” 👊
