That is kinda my point though, they are used with more familiar patterns. They weren’t created to be everything a framework uses components for. I don’t think they need to. Let them be custom elements, extending plain html, not framework components.
@brad_frost I think web components is an unfortunate name. I think if we think about them as custom DOM elements instead of ${your_framework} components we would be able to see their amazing potential.
I think too often we stuff them into patterns we know instead of creating new patterns.
@MatthewDeaners @AJStacy06 @brad_frost I don’t agree, a lot of frameworks exist because of conventions created before standards. The danger is that those conventions keep developers from using new patterns. Like sass and css custom properties, they are not the same but are often used as though they are equivalent
@Radio_Shorts@jamespmcleod It some places, my good state in the USA is one of them, it is the law for cyclists to be able to treat stop signs like yields sign for the safety of the cyclist.
Cyclists are vehicles.
Would you put a vehicle going 35-45 on the sidewalks?
@protriorg crazy thought…
What if triathlon distances were:
Super sprint: < 12.5k
Sprint: ~25k
Olympic: 51.5k
Endurance: ~100k
Ultra Endurance: > 200k
I love the “half” distance. I would feel better calling it an endurance distance as opposed to being half a triathlete 😬
