35,000+ PEOPLE BLOCK MUMBAI–DELHI HIGHWAY IN MAHARASHTRA OVER SMART METERS & EXORBITANT BILLS

More than 35,000 people, led by CPI(M), blocked the Mumbai–Delhi National Highway at Charoti in Dahanu, Palghar, Maharashtra, on September 10, protesting the forced installation of smart meters, exorbitant electricity bills and the high-handed behaviour of electricity board officials.

Despite heavy rainfall, the protesters stood firm until electricity board officials gave a written assurance to reduce the electricity bills of the people in the district through a 15-day campaign to begin at all electricity board offices from September 11.

The massive mobilisation saw the participation of AIKS, CITU, AIDWA, DYFI and SFI from Thane and Palghar districts. The protest was led by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Ashok Dhawale, Central Committee member Vinod Nikole, District Secretary Kiran Gahala, State Secretariat member Prachi Hatiwlekar, and other senior leaders.

The Left Front in Tamil Nadu announced P Suganthi (CPI(M)) and P Lakshmanan (CPI) as its candidates for the upcoming byelections to the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly Constituencies, respectively.

CPI(M) State Secretary P Shanmugam, CPI State Secretary M Veerapandian and CPI(ML)-Liberation State Secretary Pazha Asaithambi introduced the candidates at a joint press conference held at the CPI(M) State Committee Office in Chennai. Comrade P Suganthi, who will contest from Madurantakam as the CPI(M) candidate, began her political life through the literacy movement and is currently a member of the CPI(M) Tamil Nadu State Committee and General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front (TUNEF). She also served as the State General Secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) from 2011 to 2021.

The Left Front had earlier announced its decision to contest the byelections as a separate bloc, highlighting the need for representatives who will raise people’s issues in the Assembly.

Left Front-nominated CPI(M) candidate Saeed Asad Ali submitted his nomination for the byelection to the Rejinagar Assembly Constituency in West Bengal following a people’s march. Polling is scheduled for 6 October.

Thousands of scheme workers, unorganised-sector and organised-sector workers thronged Freedom Park in Bengaluru as part of the Vidhana Soudha Chalo protest rally called by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) against the Labour Codes. They demanded amendments to the Labour Codes by the state government, implementation of the minimum wages fixed by the state government, and other demands.

CPI(M) Karnataka State Secretary K Prakash, CITU State President MS Meenakshi Sundaram, General Secretary S Varalaxmi, Vice President VJK Nair and other senior CITU leaders addressed the rally and condemned the Union government's decision to deny representation to INTUC, AITUC and CITU in the Central Advisory Board for Minimum Wages. The rally also resolved to further intensify the struggle and march to Delhi on December 1, 2026, for the Occupy Delhi protest called by CITU.

The NCLT’s approval of a repayment plan of a meagre ₹6.5 crore against claims of ₹22,006.57 crore involving Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra exposes the deep nexus between big corporate interests and the BJP. His close ties with the BJP and the Sangh Parivar only make this clearer. While the poor face harsh consequences for even small defaults, the rich and powerful continue to receive favourable treatment at the expense of ordinary taxpayers. This blatant injustice cannot be allowed to pass. The NCLT order must be reversed, and the interests of ordinary people must take precedence over those of the powerful.

A huge protest march was held in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, today against the ABVP-BJP attack on the CPI(M) District Committee office. Armed goons arrived at the party office late on Monday night, hurling stones, vandalising the premises and setting it on fire. The martyrs’ memorial inside the office was also damaged, and several windowpanes were smashed.

उजियारपुर, समस्तीपुर (बिहार): पुलिस जुल्म के खिलाफ सीपीआई(एम) की प्रतिरोध सभा

उजियारपुर के नाजीरपुर हाट पर 27 अगस्त को हुई पुलिसिया जुल्म की घटना के खिलाफ माकपा उजियारपुर लोकल कमिटी ने प्रतिरोध सभा आयोजित की। सभा की अध्यक्षता कॉमरेड श्याम सिंह ने की।

सभा को संबोधित करते हुए माकपा राज्य सचिव मंडल सदस्य एवं विभूतिपुर विधायक कॉमरेड अजय कुमार ने नाजीरपुर की घटना की कड़ी निंदा की। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा सरकार में शासन-प्रशासन बेलगाम हो गया है और जुल्म, अत्याचार एवं अपराध पर रोक लगाने में विफल है। उन्होंने कहा कि आम जनता पर वर्दी का धौंस जमाने की कोशिश को माकपा कामयाब नहीं होने देगी।

कॉमरेड अजय कुमार ने नाजीरपुर की जनता को भरोसा दिलाया कि पुलिस से डरने की जरूरत नहीं है। उन्होंने घटना की उच्चस्तरीय जांच और दोषी पुलिसकर्मियों पर कार्रवाई की मांग करते हुए कहा कि निर्दोष लोगों को रिहा कराने और जनता को न्याय दिलाने तक माकपा का संघर्ष जारी रहेगा। प्रतिरोध सभा में माकपा के जिला एवं स्थानीय कमिटी के नेताओं, कार्यकर्ताओं और बड़ी संख्या में स्थानीय लोग उपस्थित रहे।

The Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front (TNUEF) organised a special conference on the 'Economic demands of Dalit Women' in Chennai. The major economic demands of the women from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities were discussed and placed in the conference. DSMM All India Vice Presidents Subhashini Ali and K Samuel Raj, AIDWA Vice President U Vasuki, TNUEF General Secretary P Sugandhi, President T Chellakannu, and other senior leaders participated. A huge rally was held prior to the conference. Over a thousand women from across the state took part in the rally and attended the conference.

Addressed the media after visiting the CPI(M) Local Committee office in Jogendranagar, on the outskirts of Agartala, which was attacked and vandalised on the evening of August 24 by BJP goons.

CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby, along with Polit Bureau member and Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury and other senior party leaders, visited the party Local Committee office in Jogendranagar, on the outskirts of Agartala, which was attacked and vandalised on the evening of August 24 by 30–40 BJP goons who arrived under the pretext of a procession as part of a programme organised by their party. The Local Committee members, headed by former SFI State President Adv. Neelanjana Roy, had to take evasive action.

Attacks on CPI(M) offices and events in the area by BJP goons have increased in the recent period. A blood donation camp in the same locality, organised on Independence Day at the house of DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb, was halted under the threat of BJP thugs. In Kalamchoura, Sepahijala district, on the same day, CPI(M) supporters were physically attacked and prevented from hoisting the national flag.
