On this day in 1921, The Tulsa Race Massacre happened in the affluent black community of Greenwood in Tulsa known as the Black Wall Street.
White supremacists killed more than 300 African Americans. They looted and burned to ground black homes and businesses.
99 Years Ago on this day the black part of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Black Wall Street, was reduced to rubble. Look it up. The bottom photo reads "Captured Negros On Way To Convention Hall- During Tulsa Race Riot, June 1, 1921" #TulsaMassacre#TulsaRaceRiots#Tulsa

"The magnitude of the killing is harrowing, all the more so when paired with the circumstances of individual lynchings: Parks Banks, lynched in Mississippi for carrying a photo of a white woman; Caleb Gadly, hanged in Kentucky for walking behind the wife of his white employer..”
“Parker was in front of the portrait, and I really wanted her to turn around so I could get a picture with her, and she genuinely, honestly would not turn around.”
