Troops from @12ArmdInfBde have been training with Ukrainian soldiers in leadership and mission command as part of #OpORBITAL 🇬🇧🇺🇦
This sets the stage for more detailed training and co-operation in the future

A great interview on @bbcmtd with 18 year old Private Brandon Dean from 1st Battalion @YORKS_REGT, one of the #Yorkshire#Infantry deployed helping out @NHSuk. @WorcsAcuteNHS@DefenceHQ @UKStratCom @12ArmdInfBde Watch it here: https://t.co/WV82jNClCk
@MichaelShurkin Crudely, if we are too small to cover all bases, should we risk political irrelevance by focussing on fighting, or invite dissipation of effort (and opening a conventional asymmetry) by adapting towards a greater range of non-combat activity?
@MichaelShurkin Great article, thanks Michael. I think the concept of subordination of military activity to political strategy is probably uncontroversial - the question (particularly for resource-constrained militaries) is where to place emphasis?
Port Operations. Heres the last of the equipment for Op CABRIT Mission Ready Training leaving Emden in Germany and en route to Sennelager yesterday. Above Battlegroup level, it’s all about setting the conditions for the combined arms fight... @siabod_runner @ComdCTG @ComdUKeFP
11. That I think WdC is seeking over MDO: MDO is too broad and undisciplined about its ambitions for what the Army can do, so I think WdC is trying to deal with that by scoping down Army ambitions. In other words, forget about global competition; focus instead on the...
US ‘MDO 2028’ and UK ‘Integrated Operating Concept’ aren’t identical, but they’re similar enough that this excellent commentary applies to both. The IOpC advocates a ‘theory of victory’; this (amongst other things) offers a start point for formulating one. https://t.co/rLusvX2ycl
A crushing disappointment for George Russell, but if anyone’s looking for an illustration of why relentless combined arms training is important, plus the role of chance and the consequences of small mistakes... https://t.co/tm6kYF9aIb
The brigade sniper cadre completed today after 9 weeks of hard training and ruthless testing. That’s 13 newly badged snipers available for reconnaissance and precision attack, day and night and in all weather conditions. Great soldiers and priceless assets; proud of them all.
This is a thoughtful interpretation of the N-K war which challenges the sterile ‘tanks are obsolete’ narrative. Warfare evolves, creating new asymmetries and vulnerabilities which demand a corresponding combined arms evolutionary response. Vulnerable & obsolete are not synonyms.
Thread: Some people are questioning whether the war in Karabakh proves that the tank is obsolete. A better question to ask is how Azerbaijan was able to punch through NKR's defenses, seize fortified positions, and exploit that success in the south?

The Disintegrating Language of UK Defence – The Alphen Group. A really good read for all involved in Defence policy or strategy development. Let’s all try to write more clearly. @wavellroom @pinstripedline @thinkdefence https://t.co/fKawVGDZQu
💬 "It's been a mammoth task to get back up here."
For the 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮, all three of @YORKS_REGT's battalions are in their home county, with the arrival of 1 YORKS in Catterick.
Since I'm seeing a number of people tweet this article, I'm gonna type up a thread listing some errors, questionable conclusions, and weak sources. There are many important lessons from this conflict, and this article draws some wrong ones.
‘Europe should look carefully at the military lessons of this conflict, and not dismiss it as a minor war between poor countries. Most of the EU’s armies...would do as miserably as the Armenian army in a modern kinetic war. That should make them think – and worry’.
He’s also (as you are no doubt well aware Mike) the Patron Saint of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers - who have been Armoured Infantry since Centurion was a rank not a tank. There he is, sticking it to the big lizard on the regimental cipher. #forenglandandsaintgeorge
The Bn is too modest to point out that this move was delayed by C-19 from earlier this year and then conducted while the HQ and two companies have been (and are) deployed to Liverpool. Hugely impressive flexibility and forbearance from soldiers and families alike. Thanks 1 Yorks.
After 17 years in #Warminster, the @YORKS_REGT flag has finally come down, signifying the move 'home' to #Yorkshire. Thank you to the people and community of #Warminster who have been good friends and supporters of the regiment. @ArmyMediaCommSW @12ArmdInfBde
NATO's Top Operational Commanders visit #LoyalLeda20, to ensure key lessons are identified and shared throughout the Alliance. Commanders were briefed on Capability Development & Experimentation being trialled by @HQARRC. #StrongerTogether 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Assuming that this is not a deep fake produced by a hostile foreign power (I’m 50:50 tbh), we cannot have a Christmas Greetings gap in UK Defence. @ArmySgtMajor the Army expects...
@3rdUKDivision @12ArmdInfBde @HQARRC Still there! It’s a great exercise; everyone’s learning a tonne about high intensity multi-national Corps and Divisional operations. Plan, refine, execute. Deep, close, rear. Cyber, space, land, joint; HQ ARRC is genuinely capable. #wearenato
