Take your kid to work day but the work is HIS business just hit different yesterday.
Check out his first project, @pigeonsmission by our Creative Studio @GlowingCheetahS
Since we launched our new creative studio, over the last 2+ years, something incredible has happened...
When I started building a side-scrolling video game with my son (https://t.co/ygyr4UqHM8) dropping soon, I had no idea it would unlock a whole new creative obsession.
What started as a fun project with my little guy has evolved into a deep love for game design, animation, sound, storytelling, and the behind-the-scenes magic of it all.
From sound design and VFX to writing lore, story arcs, and character dialogue—it’s felt like a new creative world opened up for me.
I’ve been absorbing everything I can: books, docs, tutorials...
And what’s wild is how much crossover there is between video game design and web design. The systems. The UI. The immersive storytelling. The layered experiences. It all clicks.
This passion has started to bleed into everything we do creatively.
Since launching our new creative studio, https://t.co/J8y7Lfn4QJ my son and I have been building more than just a game—we’ve been dreaming up stories, experimenting with animation styles, and pushing ourselves creatively in ways I never expected.
Now?
I’m deep into writing my third book, but this time it’s different.
It’s my first novel, and it’s a sci-fi epic rooted in world-building, identity, and family. I’ve never felt this creatively free.
And the best part?
I get to do it all with my kid. Creating worlds, characters, and stories together. Seeing the spark in his eyes when an idea clicks? Man… nothing compares.
This is more than a game.
It’s a creative renaissance.
If you're a fellow gamer, creative, storyteller, or parent building alongside your kid—I see you.
We’re just getting started. 🚀
If you’re looking to break into a niche, here’s a game-changing tip that helped us crack into developing video game websites and brands.
And if you’re wondering if we’ve got the receipts, let me break it down:
We built the website for Subnautica, one of the best-selling games of its time.
We’ve created multiple brands and websites in the gaming industry, including a project with one of my favorite entrepreneurs, @randfish, for his new gaming studio.
Here’s How It All Started:
We KNEW we wanted to work with game studios (because let’s be real, we’re avid gamers ourselves).
But instead of waiting for opportunities to come to us, we decided to create our own lane.
Step 1: Build for the Industry, Not Just Yourself
We designed a detailed video game industry website template on the @Webflow platform.
Back then, there weren’t ANY templates catering to game studios—zilch. That was the opportunity we saw and capitalized on.
We studied the industry.
Most gaming websites were… well, let’s call them “meh.”
They didn’t hit the mark.
So, we created something that indie studios could use to thrive—a plug-and-play template with all the essentials:
A homepage to hook audiences.
A dedicated Games page w sub-pages for titles.
Studio details, press kits, and more.
Step 2: Engage Your Target Audience Early
We didn’t just build the template and call it a day.
We created content around the buildout.
Blog posts, social media teasers, and even DMs to studios asking,
“What do you need in a website?”
This not only helped us refine the template but built relationships in the space.
Step 3: Consistency Pays Off
Within a few months, the template took off.
We saw tons of purchases, and soon after, three studios reached out to us directly to build their custom sites.
The Big Lesson
If you want to dominate a niche, build before you pitch.
We didn’t wait for permission to enter the gaming space.
We provided value upfront and created a foundation that positioned us as experts in gaming websites.
Actionable Tactics You Can Use Right Now
Study the Industry Gaps: Look at your niche and identify what’s missing.
Is it better design?
Clearer branding?
Faster solutions?
Write these gaps down.
Build a Proof of Concept:
Create a template, a case study, or even a spec project that solves one of these gaps.
Make it valuable, make it shareable.
Engage with the Community: Hop on forums, slide into DMs, or use platforms like Reddit and Discord to ask potential clients what they need.
Build rapport and trust before you pitch.
Leverage Content Marketing: Share your progress, process, and expertise.
Whether it’s Twitter threads, blog posts, or quick behind-the-scenes videos, let people see the work you’re putting in.
Stay Consistent: Opportunities don’t come overnight.
Keep showing up with value, and eventually, the work will start coming to you.
Breaking into a niche isn’t about luck—it’s about intentional action.
Don’t wait for doors to open; build the doors yourself.
So, what niche are you breaking into?
Let me know, and let’s get it! 🚀
@johndsaunders Breaking into a food themed publishing niche that started with comics and is now expanding into card games and maybe board games in the future. One day, I would love to go into video game or animation storytelling.
Arcane's budget is certainly very high, but given the quality produced, it could also be compared to the budgets of animated films.
So, per minute of animation, Arcane cost 3 times less than Spider-Verse, and 4 times less than a Pixar film.

1/4 People scoff at the art community coming together to hire just 1 lobbyist.
The sad fact is that it is an EXTREMELY effective tactic, as it’s one of the few ways to put your influence lawmakers. We gotta fight back everywhere. If able please donate:
