@COMM365_JennG @COMM365_Alisa Interesting! Maybe there needs to be harm reduction education for technology too

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Sam @comm365_laura @COMM365_Maddie @comm365_chase On the bright side, maybe also to open our minds to new possibilities

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Emily My dad actually cut off cable so I couldn't watch Much Music anymore. I guess he worried about media effects.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Emily haha, maybe Vevo might have been a better example. I just proved that I was a 90s teenager.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

Taking it way back here: You hear a song on the radio, then later see the song's music video on Much Music. #themediumisthemessage

@COMM365_Alisa Technology: the new gateway drug? https://t.co/pGlScmFeRa

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Alisa I've ways thought that way, I question why we seem to need to know that something is real, what difference does it make?

In celebration of International Women's Day and media studies, this poem came to mind: https://t.co/zGvLEtJMDF

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry maybe we do know someone but how would we know we do for sure? Same with reality.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry our last discussion made me think of this. And you're right; I don't know if we ever really know someone

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@comm365_chase @COMM365_Bry What about online dating? Simulacrum?

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry In a way, yes. Mostly because I had to make sense of it without any prior knowlege. I had expectations about the tower.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry I think I was more impressed by it.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry Lock bridge in Paris, I never heard of it but my partner had. He said, "YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS BEFORE" when we walked on it.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

My question still stands, and you probably knew this was coming: how can we prove (without a shadow of doubt) what reality is?

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Bry I hear you. It was completely different from what I imagined. I think maybe that's the point in some way?

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@comm365_kcor I agree, although I think many think it is not staged. I'm not a huge fan of reality TV, but I do like biographies etc.

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@comm365_Nicki Admittedly, I love American Idol

[Tara Thom Burnett @comm365_tara]

@COMM365_Jen @COMM365_Maddy I don't like "reality tv either, but true stories are more meaningful. I love biographies.

@COMM365_Evelyn @comm365_chase Sure! PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.
