The world lost a bright light on Sept 2, 2021 when my friend and mentor Dr. Michael Kelly passed. I’m devastated, shocked, winded and deeply sadden for his family. These past two years (really longer) have felt like a storm that’s supposed to be weathered but the downpour hasn’t
The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.
He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations.
It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.
I work on the practice side of school social work. Our profession needs more studies on “mixed diagnosis classrooms”. With the coming leadership changes in Jan, Sped will be hit significantly with a reduction in funds and regulations. W/O regs, best practice is vulnerable
For those in the academic world, does anyone have resources to find the history of social developmental studies used in the school setting? Google ain’t doing it. TIA
I think this is really a tweet about helping improve the mental health of new MSW graduates. It can be a nightmare to not know what you need to do to be effective. It can lead you to question your belonging in the profession. Worse, people leaving due to the damage done
School Social Work needs its own degree. I’m not sure what it looks like but two to four elective courses is insufficient. The internships have such variation, that they can’t be relied on to ensure all of the necessities are taught effectively.
@usedgov Can you help me find any data that tracks when school districts build new schools? Or macro data that follows trends? (State by state, private vs public, average growth rate). Or any of those in the academic world maybe you know a resource. TIA
I'm humbled and honored to be named a 2023 @NASW Social Work Pioneer for my role in bringing podcasting to social work. Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast over the years! https://t.co/bJNtdZmyzY
About 1,500 students and staff from Staley High School walked out yesterday in support of Ralph Yarl. His classmates chanted, "We love you Ralph," and "Justice for Ralph," as they walked around their school's campus to show support. #RalphYarl
On #PresidentsDay, it is important to recall that at least twelve U.S. presidents enslaved Black people, eight while in office. Two-thirds of the first 18 presidents collectively enslaved nearly 2,000 Black people. We know what largely built this nation, and it wasn’t freedom.

Dear Educator,
Documentation does not equal implementation. Just because you've filled out a checklist, printed a graph, or created a flowchart does not mean my life is being impacted.
Love,
Student not receiving any actual support

School Counseling in December is wild. One minute you’ll be doing a homicide assessment and the next making snowman friendship crafts all while in Christmas dog jammies😅
Shockingly, my top episode of the year on @Spotify was my first episode, DSM Diagnosis for Social Workers, published January 22, 2007. Archival format for the win :) /1

Last year I was crushed by the death of my friend and @LoyolaSSW colleague, Mike Kelly (@SchoolSocWork). Today I attended his unveiling (Jewish tradition). It was intense, beautiful, connecting, and inspiring. Mike worked every day to make the world a better place💕Miss you bud.
