Decades of academic debate over American imperialism have been reduced to a single State Department social media post openly declaring that the U.S. has the right to rule over Latin America.

The difference between now and a year ago is that the @DemSocialists are emboldened and open about their fringe agenda. And as more Americans hear about the DSA's radical platform to abolish the presidency and the Supreme Court, open all borders, and close all prisons (for starters) the more they get turned off.

Democrats have always been a big tent party, but if you let the @DemSocialists drive the agenda, others will leave in droves.

Despite what the Democratic establishment and corporate media say, Abdul El-Sayed’s win in Michigan was a victory for socialists around the country, despite not being a socialist himself.

El-Sayed’s platform calls for Medicare for All, getting money out of politics, and putting more money in the pockets of ordinary Americans.

These are just some of the priorities being championed by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the country’s largest socialist organization.

While El-Sayed’s platform is not truly socialist in nature, it does begin to build the foundations for a political system and economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.

His campaign’s bold vision also helped energize young people and first time voters, key demographics Democrats cannot afford to take for granted going into the midterms. With this support, he emerged victorious against over $30 million in AIPAC spending to boost his former opponent, Congresswoman Haley Stevens.
