Colorado is the rightful home for Space Command, no matter who occupies the White House. Colorado’s space and military assets are critical to our national security. Colorado is the premier location for our service members and their families to train, live, work, and retire. We will fiercely defend and have bipartisan support for Colorado’s military community.
On the heels of the Tina Peters’ guilty verdict, it’s astonishing that the El Paso County GOP decided to feature Mike Lindell at their county dinner. Lindell has funded, partnered with and promoted Peters.

Republican Mayor of Mesa, AZ, John Giles: “I think the time has come for us as Arizona Republicans to admit the obvious...which is that our party’s nominee is not qualified for office…”

This is a tragic day. We must be honest and acknowledge (with deep regret) that shootings are a common method of conflict resolution in our society. And that there seems to be a confounding disregard for the ubiquity of gun violence. I’m relieved that Mr. Trump wasn’t severely injured, and I hope that he and the attendees seek emotional help to ease the trauma they experienced. My thoughts and prayers go out to the innocent victims of this senseless act.
I believe that we can be better. We need to be better… but at some point, shootings stopped being shocking - and that is what’s shocking.
🚨This is the real democracy crisis:
More than half of counties now have limited or no local reporting
Two studies show corruption skyrockets after layoffs of reporters
What will emerge amid the collapse of media?

Here is Robert De Niro’s full statement about how Donald Trump should NEVER be president again:
“I’ve spent a lot of time studying bad men. I’ve examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty.
Yet there’s something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don’t see a bad man. Truly.
I see an evil one.
Over the years, I’ve met gangsters here and there. This guy tries to be one, but he can’t quite pull it off. There’s such a thing as “honor among thieves.” Yes, even criminals usually have a sense of right and wrong.
Whether they do the right thing or not is a different story — but — they have a moral code, however warped.
Donald Trump does not. He’s a wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics. No sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself — not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves his “friends.” He has contempt for all of them.
We New Yorkers got to know him over the years that he poisoned the atmosphere and littered our city with monuments to his ego. We knew first hand that this was someone who should never be considered for leadership. We tried to warn the world in 2016.
The repercussions of his turbulent presidency divided America and rattled New York City beyond imagination. Remember how we were jolted by crisis in early 2020, as a virus swept the world.
We lived with Donald Trump’s bombastic behavior every day on the national stage, and we suffered as we saw our neighbors piling up in body bags.
The man who was supposed to protect this country put it in peril, because of his recklessness and impulsiveness. It was like an abusive father ruling the family by fear and violent behavior. That was the consequence of New York’s warning getting ignored. Next time, we know it will be worse.
Make no mistake: the twice-impeached, 4-time indicted Donald Trump is still a fool. But we can’t let our fellow Americans write him off like one. Evil thrives in the shadow of dismissive mockery, which is why we must take the danger of Donald Trump very seriously.
So today we issue another warning. From this place where Abraham Lincoln spoke — right here in the beating heart of New York — to the rest of America:
This is our last chance.
Democracy won’t survive the return of a wannabe dictator.
And it won’t overcome evil if we are divided.
So what do we do about it? I know I’m preaching to the choir here. What we’re doing today is valuable, but we have to take today into tomorrow – take it outside these walls. We have to reach out to the half of our country who have ignored the hazards of Trump and, for whatever reason, support elevating him back into the White House.
They’re not stupid, and we must not condemn them for making a stupid choice. Our future doesn’t just depend on us. It depends on them.
Let’s reach out to Trump’s followers with respect. Let’s not talk about “democracy.” “Democracy” may be our holy grail, but to others it is just a word, a concept, and in their embrace of Trump, they’ve already turned their backs on it.
Let’s talk about right and wrong. Let’s talk about humanity.
Let’s talk about kindness. Security for our world.
Safety for our families.
Decency.
Let’s welcome them back.
We won’t get them all, but we can get enough to end the nightmare of Trump, and fulfill the mission of this “Stop Trump Summit.”
Republicans just sent us home for the weekend:
1. There’s no Speaker
2. Israel is at war
3. Ukraine is at war
4. US faces another govt shutdown
Bring the House back into session to vote on a Speaker. The country can’t wait.
Israel is at war- meanwhile:
1. House is stalled until Republicans select Speaker candidate;
2. Senate is out this week;
3. No confirmed US ambassador to Israel;
4. Ukraine aid package isn’t moving;
5. Tuberville continues barricade 300+ military noms.
Republicans must call House back into session immediately. Our national security can’t wait.
It seems that so many wonderful people are leaving this world, and now Jimmy Buffett is one of them. I’ve known Jimmy for some time and found him to be one of the kindest and most generous people.
I remember once on holiday when I had forgotten to bring my guitar and was itching to play. He said he would get me one of his, but I said, ‘I’m left-handed’. So, Jimmy had his roadie restring one of his guitars which he loaned me for the duration of the holiday. He then followed this act of generosity by giving me my own beautiful left-handed guitar that had been made by one of his guitar-making pals. It’s a beautiful instrument, and every time I play it now it’ll remind me of what a great man Jimmy was.
He had a most amazing lust for life and a beautiful sense of humour. When we swapped tales about the past his were so exotic and lush and involved sailing trips and surfing and so many exciting stories that it was hard for me to keep up with him.
Right up to the last minute his eyes still twinkled with a humour that said, ‘I love this world and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it’.
So many of us will miss Jimmy and his tremendous personality. His love for us all, and for mankind as a whole.
Last, but not least, is his songwriting and vocal ability. If someone made an interesting remark he repeated it in his gorgeous Louisiana drawl and said, ‘That’s a good idea for a song’. Most times it didn’t take too long for that song to appear. I was very happy to have played on one of his latest songs called ‘My Gummy Just Kicked In’. We had a real fun session and he played me some of his new songs. One, in particular, I loved was the song, ‘Bubbles Up’. And I told him that not only was the song great but the vocal was probably the best I’ve heard him sing ever. He turned a diving phrase that is used to train people underwater into a metaphor for life when you’re confused and don’t know where you are just follow the bubbles - they’ll take you up to the surface and straighten you out right away.
So long, Jim. You are a very special man and friend and it was a great privilege to get to know you and love you. Bubbles up, my friend.
Love, Paul
Santa Barbara News-Press Declares Bankruptcy, Staff Told All Jobs ‘Eliminated’ https://t.co/jQPIvpL5cr. This, and a string of other newspaper bankruptcies across the country, bodes ill for the fourth estate and the survival of our Democracy - add declines in TV news viewership.
@SteveStaeger Yes, it’s way-overdue for a complete analysis of the way news moves in this country. It shouldn’t be with the time zones - it should be balanced. The entire west coast continues to be left out of the national news spectrum.
It’s no wonder the American people are skeptical of a system that holds millions of struggling student loan borrowers in limbo but steps in overnight to ensure that billion-dollar crypto firms won’t lose a dime in deposits.
