Christ was all about compassion when He lived here on earth. I have the opportunity to continue that legacy of compassion because of Him.

Compassion means I find strength from God to forgive over and over, even when there is is little hope that the actions will ever be righted.

Compassion takes caring about things that normally are not my jam, but are important to the people I get to spend time with.

Having hope is essential for giving hope.

And giving hope is one of the essential parts of showing compassion.

The meanest, most spiteful person you know just wants to be loved.

Compassion can understand what someone is going through, but without being an enabler of bad choices.

Compassionate people want other people to be healthy, not to control them, but just because they are human beings and God’s beloved.

I can either protect myself or I can risk being vulnerable, showing compassion to broken people and let God protect me.

I am struggling with this one, but compassion doesn’t always need to talk everything out. Leaving things and praying can be more compassionate.

There is not a single person in this world that can’t be changed by God. Not one. Compassion comes with the hope that change will come. Let me not lose hope in anyone or treat them like they are inferior.

Showing compassion requires me to live a life that has margin in both time and money. This is a real challenge for me right now when I don’t seem to have extra of either. I am thinking and praying about what to cut in these areas. Prayers are appreciated.

Tonight I was emotionally exhausted and wanted to find a quiet place to hide. I decided instead to honor a commitment and God showed up in a person I didn’t expect. She showed me compassion and encouragement that was just what I needed to hear. Praise God!

I have realized on this journey that many people who need to be shown compassion don’t actually know that is what they need. I am guilty of this too. My response has to be to love relentlessly despite the response I get.
