Should govt policy prioritise
a. The public
b. The ‘markets’* or
c. The brand of the Tory party?
*For those that think b. needs to enable a. bear in mind that the ‘markets’ isn’t real. It’s a social construct to enable the mega rich to parasitise those who actually creat value.
- the @ft today asked both Tory peer Baroness Michelle Mone and her billionaire husband Douglas Barrowman whether any UK tax was paid on these profits from the PPE Medpro deals
- we didn’t get any comment
Is this why Michelle Mone is selling the house & yacht FAST?
Last week's @FT explains HMRC regards all Members of House of Lords as UK domiciled. Which means they have to pay income tax on income, no matter where that money is kept.
Has someone had a big tax bill? 🤔
‘A businessman whose company made a £70 million profit on a contract for PPE that was mostly unused has paid himself £13 million — and celebrated his birthday last week by eating a “briefcase of cash” cake on a private yacht.’ 🤢 https://t.co/3mhIbuEY8w
The onus is on Brexiters to demonstrate how Brexit will make us better off, just as they promised it would in 2016. In a democracy, it’s up to the victors to prove they were right and if they can’t do that, we should be able to vote for something different.
Brexit:
4,000 fewer doctors in the NHS. Remember the glossy TV ads by the leave campaign showing hospitals after Brexit with no one having to wait to see a doctor?
They lied.

Hi Henry 👋
You may be unaware that Brexit has lead to 4285 fewer EU doctors choosing to joining the NHS - at a time when we're short of over 10k NHS doctors.
A staggering 58k fewer European nurses have joined too.
Truly an act of national self-harm.

I just want the British press to spend as much time exposing Michelle Mone's £29 million deal as they spend on discrediting nurses for wanting to feed their families.
is this the same Rishi Sunak who literally promised greater “accountability at every level” in his first speech as prime minister

Ask yourself…
Why would an older person’s Oyster card be accepted as voter ID?
But a younger person’s would not?
Then ask yourself, which way they typically vote
No question…
This is election rigging.
“We need to export to our biggest and most obvious market which is 20 miles across the Channel”
This #bbcqt audience member who trades with European countries says his business is “hanging in there”, claiming Brexit is a “disaster for our economy”

#bbcqt audience 1 - When are we going to start talking about rejoining the single market?
Victoria Atkins(Tory MP) embarrasses herself.🤦
#bbcqt audience 2 - I'm not interested in Trading with Australia or NZ.... brexit is a disaster..
Is now a good time to remind you all this govt spent/lost:
£37bn on failed private Test & Trace
£15bn on PPE worth £2,5bn (incl £4bn of unusable PPE w/ VIP mates getting £££)
£16bn on COVID loan fraud & error
£11bn on Rishi’s debt interest mistake
+£100bns more on Brexit
Just shows you what a lying bunch of the Tories are.The Tories have crashed the economy made people worse off and now they expect us to pay for their mistakes and they are still lying to us when it comes to the economy #ToriesOut133#GeneralElectionNow
Sunak is just another member of the gang of snake oil Tory Brexiteer spivs who have brought our country to its knees.
They were brought to power by lies, racism, dirty money, grubby think tanks and a public groomed over decades by crooked press barons waving Union Jacks.
The mess we are in is not just a result of 12 weeks of Conservative chaos, but 12 years of Conservative economic failure.
All we got today was an invoice for the economic carnage they have created.
Never again can the Tories claim to be the party of economic competence.
Hunt claims that 90,000 students would drop out of private school system if tax relief was ended.
I've found the source of the stat – the Independent Schools Council, the lobby group that represents private schools.
