A few years ago @EcoleMcTavish Band students commissioned Canadian composer @composercait to write a piece of music celebrating and honouring Fort McMurray’s community spirit. Today she released a podcast episode talking about the piece - check it out!! @ArtsCouncilWB@FMPSD

Holst’s First Suite was the first big standard piece I played in my high school band. I could never have imagined that many years later, university conducting students would have a choice between this piece and one of mine. So grateful 🥲 🎶
✅ Last class with our MUS 242 Conductors! Final conducting juries done - choice of Holst First Suite I. Chaconne or @composercait Chasing Sunlight ☀️ The future of music education is extremely bright with these fantastic students! 💯 @IllinoisMusic@FAAatIllinois @IllinoisBands
@BarryLHouser@IllinoisMusic@FAAatIllinois @IllinoisBands I am truly honoured to have my music as the alternate choice to Holst’s First Suite ☺️ Congrats to all these future conductors!
I’ll share more about each piece on social media and in my email newsletter (sign up on my website if you haven’t already!) I’m excited to finally share this music with the world. 🤍
Hello! I have emerged from winter and I have several updates to share over the coming days and weeks, starting with this one: I’m releasing some new band music on Earth Day! 🌎🌲🎶 Three unreleased pieces for concert band will be available starting this Friday.
Like the majority of my music, these pieces are inspired by the natural world and partial proceeds will go to charitable organizations doing conservation/reforestation work.
First concert band commission of 2022 is complete ☑️ Honoured to create this piece for students at @IUJSoM and for the whole #MusicEducation community. To me, the nature of trees is love, resilience, and to co-create an environment in which everyone can thrive.
A compositional problem I've been having lately (lol for the last 1.5 years) is that nobody really wants unsettling music right now. We're traumatized, and sad or challenging music is for after-trauma, not in the middle of it. People want to be comforted. I get that.
RBG is in need of your trees! 🌲 The annual tree collection returns! We need 1,500 trees to assist conservation efforts in rebuilding creek channels. Let your tree continue to work for nature even after it’s done its traditional duty.

A few weeks ago I surpassed one thousand (1000!) orders on my website. This is a big milestone for me and, to celebrate, I’m doing a giveaway! Find me on Instagram to participate. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my work. #dreambig#selfpublished#composer
Many thanks to composer @composer_cait for joining the Clearview Wind Ensemble this morning for a fantastic virtual clinic on her work "Autumn". Looking forward to sharing this beautiful work next month.
Special thanks to @RowanMusicDept's Dr. Joe Higgins for helping facilitate!
