For the month of September, we collected 302 tons of food waste! In terms of avoided carbon emissions, this is about equivalent to 745 tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled (https://t.co/BOMaU5ILpg). For October, check out our new kit!
In August, we diverted 257.1 tons of organic waste from the Johnston landfill, which is expected to reach capacity by 2034 according to the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation. An estimated 8,000 tons of compostable material was not diverted in August.
