Poor Larry Householder. He carried out a $60 million dollar political bribery, $1.3 billion dollar bailout felony racketeering scheme that fleeced and robbed millions of Ohioans, but really he’s the victim. The media reporting on his crimes are the villains. This is so stupid.
Opinion @ThomasSuddes:
The stakes on Aug. 8, when Ohioans will approve or reject State Issue 1, are clear: Should the voters rule Ohio, or should a gerrymandered General Assembly call all the shots?

Reasons to #VoteNoInAugust ⬇️
📢Issue 1 would end majority rule: 40% of voters veto the will of 60% of voters for citizen initiatives
📢Issue 1 takes away freedoms we've had since 1912
📢Issue 1 gives special interests the winning advantage

W/Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine offering phony reasons for supporting Issue One on Aug 8 ballot, which would effectively remove ability of Ohioans to change their constitution, we had a discussion about this sinister effort:

The Illinois billionaire attacking Ohio majority voter authority also funded attempts to overturn the 2020 election and helped bankroll Jan. 6. This is the definition of out-of-state special interests attacking our constitution.

In a continuing effort to stop legislators from reinstating an August election this year, opponents quoted Ohio's Secretary of State, who just last year, supported the removal of unneeded August elections.

The Ohio House Constitutional Resolutions Committee is planning for a potential vote on SJR2, the Senate version of the 60% voter threshold to approve constitutional amendments, on Tuesday 5/2.
Surely, announcing this at 4:47PM on a Friday is purely coincidental.
Ohio has 11.7 million residents and somehow, the Governor felt the best person for a cushy bureaucratic job is the wife of a State Senator from the same party.
Then the State Senator openly celebrates it.
No wonder everyone thinks #Ohio is wildly corrupt!
Former OH Gov. Bob Taft, a Republican:
Don’t do an August special election, and definitely don’t do one to raise the threshold for constitutional amendments
Bullying Ohio's constitution | Sandusky Register
“The process to change the state's constitution has been the same for 111 years. There is no legitimate argument for changing it now, especially in this rigged way.” https://t.co/hISt1nAnpN
Reminder that just FOUR MONTHS AGO the entire legislative GOP - backed back Frank LaRose - voted to get rid of most August elections bc of abysmal voter turnout and cost to BOEs.
But now that it means using one to silence the voice of the people? Just fine!
Such bullshit.
Opinion by Thomas Suddes:
Thanks to gerrymandering, legislators’ seats may be safe, but Ohio Constitution isn’t
The gerrymandering of the legislature has made it more out of touch than it already was

It is politically reckless for Ohio Republican cabal to use a low-turnout special August election to upend 111 years of constitutional authority for citizen-driven electoral approved amendments to the state’s governing document.

Dear @FrankLaRose why can't I get a voter registration form at McDonald's?
If it was legal when Senator Brown was Secretary of State, then the legality can't be a concern for you. So what's stopping you?
This would enshrine extremist rule by giving a 41% minority of voters and a gerrymandered Republican supermajority legislature authority over all Ohioans on every issue no matter what a majority of sensible Ohioans actually want.
Is 'keeping kids off social media' and 'short-staffing situations' a reason to have 14-15 year olds be able to work until 9pm during the school year? Some Ohio legislators think so - https://t.co/MEHI5evw9c
