With Trump's pardon of ex-Rep. Steve Buyer R-IN, who was convicted of insider trading, here is the updated Trump pardon list involving Congress: 11R, 2D
Wow!
This seems to me to be a strong argument for why Democrats should take over leadership of the Ohio Statehouse, from a sitting Repub Members no less!
For the last 1.5 years, the Ohio House Medicaid Committee has been working to protect the taxpayer while serving our most vulnerable citizens. As a member of this committee, I can attest that especially over the past few weeks, both sides of the aisle have been working together to honestly find policies to eliminate fraud, waste, & abuse.
Last week, Speaker Huffman added three members of leadership to the Medicaid Committee. These three have taken over the process from the chair, and yesterday they presented a 177-page substitute bill that had been released just a few hours before committee began. This was an ambush! Turns out, the details of this sub bill has provisions in it that totally blow up Medicaid in Ohio and will have the exact opposite effect of what we have been working towards.
Last General Assembly we had a rule that required all amendments and sub bills to be available by midnight the day before adopted (The Cinderella Rule). This rule gave some time for amendments to be read; however, this rule was eliminated in this GA. The result has been that time and time again, members have been forced to take votes before seeing the bill, and then only later getting the details. Yesterday, leadership hid the ball again, and in doing so, left the original members of the committee who weren’t part of crafting the sub bill holding the bag.
This is the latest example of the style of leadership the Ohio House is under.—do what we say or else. Believe me, I know firsthand!
And most unfortunately, this trick yesterday probably wasted an opportunity to truly protect the taxpayer. We were on a path to make major and positive reforms to Medicaid in Ohio to weed out Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; however, now with this sub bill and the way it was handled, how can we trust what we are being told by leadership?
Simply put, we cannot.
Oh, and to be clear, I’m a “No” on this SubBill.
Jon Husted just voted to prioritize insurance company profits over Ohioans' health care.
He voted to kill an amendment that would stop insurance companies from delaying and denying care that your doctor says you need.
This tells you everything you need to know about Jon Husted.
266,000 jobs under Biden:
“slowed”
“muddled expectations”
“fell short”
172,000 jobs under trump:
“upswing”
“vigorous”
“strong sign for economy”
This is the double standard Dems have had to deal with for the past 10 years.
NEW: A stunning new project from @lawfare's Katherine Pompilio finds that 97 Jan. 6ers who received clemency for their role in the Capitol riot then got arrested, charged, and/or convicted with subsequent crimes—a number much higher than previously reported.
@RepFine I'm old enough to remember when members of Congress worked with the other side to craft legislation that made all Americans' lives better.
I'm saddened to see one side has devolved to exploiting blatant disinformation to scare the uneducated to vote for them.
Ossoff: Last September, the President of Kazakhstan calls Donald Trump and says he wants to grant tungsten mining rights to an American company. And the very next month, Eric and Don Jr. get a stake in the American company pursuing the mining deal.
Six days later, six days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake, Kazakhstan announces this company will get, “The largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the world.” A few more weeks go by, and then the U.S. government, run by their father, sets aside 1.6 billion of your tax dollars to fund and finance their mining project. In Kazakhstan.
All this while you pay more for gas, for groceries, for health care, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Don’t be fooled Ohioans about Medicare fraud. The Republican Party has been in charge for 28 years in Ohio, if there is major fraud, it’s happened under their watch. To think republicans will now look to fix, is a pipe dream.
@ReturnOfKappy Why do you use his former title?
It gives him a level of respect he has worked hard to shirk!
Didn't you ever notice how the Pedo Party always called the previous President "Biden" not "President Biden"?
We need to be just as careful with our language!
The heart of our constitutional crisis in one exchange between me and Sec. Mullin. When asked a simple question - if he will obey court orders - he says he will not because some court orders are "politicized".
That's not how democracy works. And that's why we are in a crisis.
@Cam_Cawthorne I guess because it's coming from Democrats you find it repulsive?
Because drivel like this is regurgitated daily on this propaganda channel by the other side and it's taken as a valid defense.
If we weren't a worldwide laughing stock before, we sure are now.
The only person less qualified to be DNI than @pulte is the pedophile who appointed him.
Appointing Pulte, who has criminally targeted Trump's opponents and has zero experience, to be Director of National Intelligence, shows we have a mafia government.
The naked corruption is crazy and frightening.
Even by Trump Administration standards, Bill Pulte is totally unqualified to be DNI. He has no relevant experience and his sole qualification is unconditional devotion to Donald Trump. Since there will be no senate confirmation (of course), it is critical that Pulte go through a full security clearance process before he walks into the building.
The biggest news isn't that Trump is appointing someone without a national security background to a position that, by law, requires "extensive" experience. It's that Pulte earned Trump's trust by using **mortgage** records to pursue perceived political enemies. Now this top henchman will have access to some of our most sensitive intelligence and exquisite capabilities. That's why this is so noteworthy -- and concerning.
