A few days ago, I hosted the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Tour team in Benue for a fruitful media chat on the Renewed Hope Agenda, our development efforts, and the progress being recorded across the State.
I appreciate the team for visiting Benue, engaging with us and highlighting the impact of ongoing Federal and State Government projects, including the revitalisation of key economic assets such as Taraku Mills.
BENUE NUJ RETRACTS NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE, SEEKS FRESH WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOVERNOR ALIA'S CPS
By Orseer Mnzughulga | July 14, 2026
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, has rescinded its earlier vote of no confidence against the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, formally apologising for the decision and pledging a renewed era of cooperation.
The resolution was contained in an official letter jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Comr. Bemdoo Ugber and the Secretary, Comr. Oryiman Gwaza, in which the union admitted that the action was taken in haste and did not reflect the broader interest of sustaining a cordial relationship with the Office of the Chief Press Secretary.
The Council stated that following careful reflection, it had unanimously resolved to withdraw the vote of no confidence in its entirety, stressing that the decision was informed by the need to foster harmony, mutual respect and constructive engagement.
It further disclosed that appropriate notices would be issued through its official communication platforms to formally notify members and the general public of the reversal.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, the NUJ said it would henceforth ensure that all issues concerning the Office of the Chief Press Secretary are channelled through appropriate official avenues to strengthen institutional collaboration.
The Council also expressed its willingness to work closely with the Office of the Chief Press Secretary in advancing the practice of journalism and supporting the development agenda of the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration.
While appealing for understanding and magnanimity, the union expressed confidence that the withdrawal of the resolution would deepen the cordial relationship between the Benue NUJ and the Office of the Chief Press Secretary.
