@LTF_01 Very well written! I've been a reducitarian/sometimes vegetarian for the past 1.5 years but have noticed an increased craving for meat in the past few months - I wonder how perceptions of crisis (e.g., the pandemic) influence or modulate this paradox.

@mai_nguyen_phd @profcikara Same - IMO being junior faculty seems quite akin to being a start-up company, so it seems reasonable to expect some risk factor. Discouraging students to apply for such labs is like Amazon trying to trample a startup that isn't really a direct competitor - not a great look! 😬

@mai_nguyen_phd @profcikara I agree these are factors to consider, but there are some benefits with junior faculty, too: e.g. often will use contemporary methods, technologies, and perspectives; opportunity to be a part of the lab-building process (and get ideas for when you start your own program)
