Corner loft, 1100sf carved from 1930s textile mill in midtown Toronto. Completely renovated and modernized 2-bed unit. But kept 13' ceiling and wraparound warehouse windows providing natural light all day long. Rooftop terrace perfect for summer evenings.

The market continues to make no sense. Three straight months now of rising sales, but falling prices. Generally those 2 stats match each other. Not necessarily a bad thing, just strange.

Still so crazy that Colonel Sanders lived in Mississauga for 15 years. Not sure there is much left of his time there... but if I ever lived there, I'd be sure to have fried chicken air fresheners.

Fascinating... they are going to recreate the sanctuary inside a new steel skeleton within the walls of the old church? This is what always perplexes me, with these developments, what WILL they do with the heritage parts after the new stuff is built?

While the math is a somewhat exaggerated combination of various savings, spending and potential future revenue, there is no question. Building social housing is good. It benefits society in innumerable ways. Simple as that.

I know the building, I constantly bug the owner of a building next door to convert it to lofts. But this one, and the one to the north, are rentals because of the soil remediation required to sell them. Smelting is a dirty business... But gorgeous units!

That's a WAY better idea than allowing private equity companies to buy them up and turn condos into overpriced rental buildings. Rather than have government build, they could buy these unsold condos and offer affordable rentals to those in need.

@NexGen8808 No no, of course. I just find it weird when Equifax is always behind these articles. Mortgages being something NOT on your credit and thus not something you would see on an Equifax report. Makes me wonder if they get a boost in paid credit checks after... Or am I being tinfoil-y?
Weird, as Equifax doesn't report on mortgages... But it needs to be pointed out, this is about late payments, not people actually defaulting on their mortgages and losing their homes. While not good news, it is not as dire as they are trying to make it.

Better than demo by neglect, as per the once-nearby Walnut Hall. Facadism isn't the solution, but it beats removal. Not sure what is left inside, but preserving the historic streetscape is better than nothing.

I am impressed that prices fell that much and didn't trigger any financial issues. Not sure there is any more room to drop, especially with the economy in the precarious position it is currently in, thanks to Trump. Interest rates won't be rising at least.

Okay, who doesn't want to live in the ultimate loft conversion? In a unit in a 16th-century castle? Actually, being able to sell my boring GTA house and buy a European castle... I think I may have to start discussing retirement plans with my wife ; )

Holy stating the obvious. We have known for years, a decade even, that lack of supply was one of the main reasons for rising prices. Note the recent lack of demand and what it is done to push prices down. When demand < supply, prices fall.

Sure, but a lot of the hard work to reno the home has been done. It is a BIG house on a big lot in a very popular neighbourhood. Just because it is listed for $2.7m doesn't mean it will sell for that.
