Being physically prepared helps to feel grounded and at ease. With Covid-19 in mind, many of us are now physically prepared with masks test taking, knowing where to seek medical help, and educating ourselves.
How can we be practically resilient in other situations we encounter?
Hope can be easily lost in difficult circumstances. We all have the will to refuse to give up hope.
- Being flexible with ourselves, to shift our own goalposts.
- Facing reality with acceptance, taking it one day at a time.
- Expressing frustration in a creative manner.
Being optimistic is to counteract learned helplessness.
Permanence: the belief that a circumstance has a time limit.
Pervasiveness: the belief that a circumstance is limited in scope.
Personalised: the belief that a circumstance can arise from causes that are outside us.
There has been a lot of talk about resilience, especially during these times we are in. In the next series of posts, we will explore more about the different facets of psychological resilience.
Remember that we all have resilience β itβs important to recognise it and access it!

Thank you Healthy Woman Magazine and Anna Cortesi for hosting me on your podcast! It was so great to talk about mental health and the stigma associated with it, particularly for women who are busy and balancing a lot in life.
We all have a messy mind. Having thousands of thoughts per day, how can we not?
But we can try to take rein. Be mindful of our thoughts, challenge ourselves and have that self-awareness.
