The last time I saw my mother was almost 8 months ago. I decided to stay in the north to keep covering the news while my family evacuated to the south , we thought this would only last a few weeks . My mother left a 21-year-old eager to be a journalist, full of life. Little did I know that in those eight months, I would age 100 years. I would not only be covering the news but also digging mass graves, picking up decomposed bodies off the streets, going through starvation, and trying to console parents over their dead kids. Every day is a hunt for survival; I'm not who I was 8 months ago, and I will never be the same.
Indigenous political prisoner and Dakota/Ojibwe elder Leonard Peltier has a parole hearing on June 10. @NickTilsen from @ndncollective gives an update about the nearly five-decade fight for his freedom and the FBI’s dirty war against the American Indian Movement.
Israeli soliders DESTROYED over 100 shops & stalls at a Ramallah vegetable market in the West Bank. They set merchant stalls on fire, used tear gas, & destroyed millions of shekels worth of merchandise. Palestinian merchants are devastated. @MiddleEastEye

How can we build solidarity in an era of staggering inequality, polarization, violence, and ecological catastrophe?
This is the question at the heart of Solidarity by @Lhunthendrix & @astradisastra that we'll be exploring this month. Join us!

Aht aht…not too heavy on the lock Trump up and throw away the key. And anyway he’s unlikely to ever see a jail cell cause: White supremacy
Besides, the better point to make is this: If Trump can still run we need to ensure that same right for all returning citizens.
As a convicted felon can run for the highest office in the country, all impacted people should also be able to run for office across the commonwealth. We need to end felony candidate disenfranchisement in Pennsylvania.
THREAD. If you haven't heard about the children we are representing in Michigan who are seeking to establish a constitutional right to hug their parents, please take a moment to hear the story of how they were banned from even looking into the eyes of their moms and dads in jail.
@dareen_tatour --Let This Radicalize You: Organizing and the Revolution of Reciprocal Care, by Mariame Kaba & Kelly Hayes, 2023.
This book is a must-read for anyone in abolition, organizing, or trying to create a better world. https://t.co/XYSGLk3p92
Tatour's 2015 poem: https://t.co/RU9GYlqS4h
@dareen_tatour "Instead, we must expose and dismantle the supposed moral frameworks of the deathmakers.
We must craft our own narratives and uplift our own frameworks, which implicate the system itself.
We must as Tatour says, 'resist the colonialist's onslaught.'"
"The repression of Palestinian resistance offers a profound example of the elasticity of violence as a concept and shows how the powerful can wage war on particular communities with impunity and claim innocence."

Trump remains a dire threat. The reason people don’t take it seriously now, or see Biden as a means of negating it, is because Biden’s admin did nothing to curb the threat after years in office.
They refused to prosecute sedition and instead worked with seditionists, normalizing them. They ignored Trump’s multitude of other crimes to the point that voters now assume Trump must be innocent. By their logic, if his crimes were serious, Biden’s admin would have treated them with urgency.
They’ve continued Trump admin policies — letting covid spread and hiding public health data, Cop Cities, The Wall, abuse of migrants, protection of criminal elites including criminal SCOTUS justices, letting Trump mainstays like DeJoy and Wray remain in place — and are abetting genocide. There was no justice, only sequels. The US remains a mafia state.
DeNiro isn’t wrong about the threat of Trump. But there are reasons his words will be mocked or ignored. And the main reason is betrayal — of the Democratic 2020 platform, of the American people, and of the US as a sovereign democratic state.
“Grief, after all, is a manifestation of love, & our capacity to grieve is in some ways proportional to our capacity to care.”–Let This Radicalize You by @MsKellyMHayes & @prisonculture
