Thank you to our corporate sponsors!
Generous support from our corporate partners Rising Tide Car Wash and HSQ Group has made โA Day in the Life of a Connections Studentโ a success.
We are grateful to Tom DโEri President of Rising Tide Car Wash shown here at the site of Rising Tide, a company founded and dedicated to employing individuals with autism and Jay Huebner, President of HSQ.
Please join us in thanking them both for their support of Connections
Your parents work full-time. When the school day ends at Connections that doesnโt mean it is time to leave just yet. You stay as part of the after-school program, which allows your parents to pick you up when they get out of work.
The after school program provides the ability for them to work without having to worry about quality care for you. You staying as part of the after school program isnโt free though. It costs a maximum of $22 a day.
As a HS Student the team at Connections is working hard to expose you to as many real-life scenarios as possible. A trip to the grocery store may sound simple but for you it is sensory overload. It makes time in the store overwhelming and uncomfortable.
Being exposed in a controlled situation is making the experience more and more manageable though. Since your parents work full-time it is sometimes impossible for them to not take you shopping so learning to manage the experience is essential for all of you.
A donation of any amount helps provide nutrition counseling and access to community food resources for a Connections family.

Fitness and nutrition are also part of your daily life at Connections. Through fitness you are increasing your body awareness and improving your motor skills. Learning about food and cooking is an invaluable life skill. You are able to help your mom cook dinner at night.
You are also learning to care for the horse. You are developing work related skills at the same time. Something that will someday allow you to live up to your fullest potential.

As a middle school / high school student your afternoon sometimes includes horseback riding. The horse calms you and allows you to focus and think as you are learning to ride. It also encourages positive behaviors while gently discouraging negative behaviors.
Your afternoons at Connections are full of unique opportunities. As part of Connections Health and Wellness program you are learning to swim and be safe around the water. Something that not only you like but your mother loves!
Not only that but swimming lessons are held off a school property so you get to ride the bus with a group of friends.
A $30 donation provides one swimming lesson for a Connections student with autism through the Health and Wellness Program.
