@ColleenFrakes If Berenstain Bears taught me anything you take it to the fair and then Farmer Ben beats you again like last year. https://t.co/gMG8MGarQT
@fangcreatures (PS if you have the option never ever have a significant part of your 401k or whatever be in your employer's stock. You're already super committed to them!)
@fangcreatures I guess there's probably a bunch of executives who get paid in restricted stock who suddenly have an absurd paper net worth. But it's not like they can go sell it.
I guess if there's more normal employees who have 401ks with GameStop stock they are in a similar boat.
@fangcreatures But I'm guessing that the benefits package for the people who offer you a chance to preorder Madden '22 or whatever is probably not that robust
@fangcreatures There's maybe some level of executives who have bonuses based on stock performance (probably checkable since this is a public company). Those people might be having a good week.
@fangcreatures Maybe looking viable has meant that it can borrow on the bond market more cheaply, which could be a boost to cash flow and keep the company going? If anything, though, it seems like your bond trader types would be scared off. My bond market knowledge is pretty theoretical though
@fangcreatures The only thing I can think of is that it would be basically impossible for someone to come acquire them now since the stock is so expensive?
@fangcreatures For what it's worth, I usually defend this conversational style -- as this article does -- as just a different culture of speaking. It's not a problem as long as everyone gets it.
@fangcreatures "[Y]ou may not hear the word NO, but if you hear any combination of vague terms that doesn’t include the word Yes, you should take it as a NO.
That should be right in the visitor’s guide, if you ask me."
@thelindsayellis @JohnDiesattheEn One of my professors, who had been in El Salvador in the 1980s, basically said to imagine yourself physically dragging your neighbor into the street and shooting them in the head.
If you are not angry enough for that, you are not angry enough for a violent revolution.
The @HouseDemocrats have released the newest version of H.R. 1, the For The People Act of 2021. Here's a thread highlighting some especially exciting provisions on voting access. (You can read the bill for yourself here: https://t.co/PTLO08WQ6d.)
