Heartbroken over the news of the passing of @TBTimes_Bulls. Joey was a talented writer and even better person. He took tremendous pride in his coverage of Team Tampa Bay & @USFAthletics. I especially loved his long form writing on helping introduce new members of our sports community to our area and also his stellar coverage of so many tremendous human interest stories, including our local prep scene. His work was beyond meaningful and impactful. We are forever grateful. USF Athletics will plan to honor his lasting legacy starting with today’s home events. Rest in peace, my friend. 🙏

University of South Florida offensive tackle Connor McLaughlin, a 2020 Jesuit High School graduate, has been named to the Division I Football Academic All-America First Team! He is the first USF football player ever to earn First Team Academic All-America honors!

McLaughlin played the 2025 season with the Bulls after graduating with a 3.78 GPA from Stanford, where he was a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree. He earned a Master's degree from USF in civil engineering, graduating in December with a 4.0 GPA.

McLaughlin started all 12 regular season games for the Bulls and was named Second Team All-Conference in helping lead USF to a 9-4 record and bowl appearance while ranking No. 3 nationally in total offense (488.7 ypg) and No. 5 in scoring (40.5 ppg).
