I hope that trend keeps going to help fans (who can be balanced) understand and discuss rationally. Its an emotive topic.

@nicwoollee @thedeadballarea @BryanHabana Which together with player (Murphy), player (Wessels) and citing commissioner testimony seemed to come down to "what else could he have been doing" with his arm/hands in such an abnormal position. To have a real opinion we'd need to have been at the hearing, harsh result.

@nicwoollee @thedeadballarea @BryanHabana The bottom line is that the ref and TMO deemed it a yellow. I think they decided that Doris caused a yellow level penalty and Ryan's act was independent / unlucky as without Doris' act it wasn't really a bad offence by itself

Common sense is not proof, players play on for significant breaks / fractures all the time.

@nicwoollee @thedeadballarea @BryanHabana If you want my opinion, the injury was a bad one, and the croc roll is an uglyoffence. But the challenge, rugby is governed by laws, so if you want to throw the book at Doris or Ryan or BOTH Doris and Ryan then ....

@nicwoollee @thedeadballarea @BryanHabana He was yellow carded and sent for a bunker review by Referee Dickson (on urging from TMO Tempest). I don't believe the incident itself was cited for additional reviews by the independent citing commission.

@rugby_ap Completely correct. Marx needs to be forced out of rugby before he does long term damage to himself. Same eye, same cut, never heals.

@BrentGraham You're told as a trainee ref (been there) to try and be correct, decisive and consistent, and any 2 out of these 3 will do. I think it still applies from mini to elite levels of the game as "all" the fans expect. Unfortunately rugby has a problem right now with consistency.

@BrentGraham I'm with you, but with a minor caveat. When Irish fans moan about the ref we "only" moan about the ref. When South African fans do it they add "and Dublin based World Rugby" ... so if you have any ref playing any opposition.... its somehow our fault 😂😂😂
