Biggest benefit is that we don't spend a bunch of time documenting recreations of what already works and exists in our production app — basically zero maintenance effort.

Biggest challenge is when you have to recreate some nuanced UI on the fly.

We essentially have as much flexibility as we need to create new UI components, but that doesn't mean we're trying to reinvent the wheel all the time. We reference and use our existing patterns often, and make new stuff when prudent

A few basics like colors, common type styles, icons, buttons, avatar, checkboxes, and an action menu, but not much of anything higher-level than that.

1. How we stay aligned
Share work, ship to internal builds, roast before work goes out to customers, and ultimately, the product is the source of truth. Over time, there is certainly some design debt, so we pay that off periodically.
