I stopped "exploring my psyche" because it stopped serving me
Become familiar with your mind, but don't get lost in it. It will continue to expand the deeper you go down, like an auto-generating Minecraft biome (it doesn't exist until you make it exist)
There comes a point of marginal returns. Focus on grounding yourself in reality, not losing yourself in your head.
Entertain your thoughts, don't be consumed by them.
How many people are pulled to mimic "normality" even though it's not something that fullfil them.
Most are simply following because they want to fit in and don't want to be separated from the herd. The general thinking is their comfort zone.
"The struggle itself is the point" What about the destination?
You should absolutely love the journey, and loving to walk will get you further than the person who doesn't. But if you love to walk, without anywhere to go, what's the point after a while?
What's the point in wallowing about your starting point? You've dealt the cards you've been dealt, nobody cares, do the most you can do with it.
Much has been done by men who came from nothing, it's not impossible.
Go on vacations in a beautiful place, and if you're thrilled to come back to your regular life, it means you're truly where you need to be.
Most people go on vacations to forget their day to day life, and come back even more depressed than when they left.
Repeat after me: What enters my attention defines my reality.
Curate it extremely strictly. Even a good book can poison you. Quality does not mean good, if it's not aligned with your goals and what you're doing in the moment. At any moment, what gets into your mind slowly brainwashes you. You can lose focus of the 20% of things you need to do that yields 80% of the results because something is more salient in your mind. Eliminate everything that is not the priority, and make the one thing more salient by overwhelming your mind with it: this is focus.
Embrace the opposite of Paranoia: Pronoia. Everything is conspiring to make your life better. Integrating this belief in your life is a sure way to passively notice opportunities instead of negativity.
Consume high level stuff, and even if you don't understand it, it will plant a seed and in the future when you'll be doing something it will click.
After reading the book Flow, a simple paragraph talking about Attention led me on a long quest to understand it better (months later!) which is the basis for my philosophy and probably the thing that has changed my life the most.

Weak people will always be the most vulnerable and consequently the victims of every crisis.
This is why it's important not to just better the life of weak people, but to make them into strong people who can pull themselves up.
You're depressed because you're not creating anything meaningful. You're rotting from the inside, consuming, years pass and you know you have potential, you know there could be more, but you never act towards it.
Why?
The simplest answer is that cheap dopamine in the moment feels better than taking the action. And even thought it's making you miserable, and you know it, it hijacks the brain's mechanism to make you keep indulging in it, otherwise you become restless and your brain screams for more of it.
So your consciousness knows it should work for the long term, but your primitive brain just wants the pleasure immediately.
This is the break that happens, you consciously know you shouldn't be doing these things, that instead of pleasure you could create JOY in the long term, but your primitive brain doesn't care, it wants it all in the now.
But it doesn't have to be a death sentence.
It's true that for some people it will be much harder to listen to the conscious part, call it ADHD, whatever you want. Some of us are more inclined to those dopamine rushes.
This doesn't mean it has to be accepted, on the contrary you have to fight twice as hard.
Consume high level stuff, and even if you don't understand it, it will plant a seed and in the future when you'll be doing something it will click.

Reading is superior to audio because you really focus while you're consuming, which allows your brain to plot in the background and find new ideas + register those you consume.
When I listen to podcasts while at the gym (have to cover the trash music being blasted somehow), I noticed I rarely take notes or get new insights. But when I watch the transcript while listening, I take notes and extract much more value from it.
This is amplified with reading, as reading is lower vibration, which helps the brain connects ideas in the background while you read.
This turned into:
- Consume high level reading when I'm at my sharpest and able to focus
- Consume less serious stuff (biographies, philosophy) when I'm tired of the serious stuff/at night
- Listen to high level podcasts while I'm able to concentrate on it
- Listen to less serious podcasts (conversations, history stuff) while I'm busy doing something
To the question: but when do you get the time to log off and get no inputs? I almost don't.
The reason will be answered in a future article because it's not so simple, subscribe to not miss it.
It seems that today's world is conspiring to enter your mind and attention to poison it. Everything popular has the effect of using your mind as a dump.
If you don't protect and filter what enters your attention, you'll never be able to grow above mediocrity.
Songs with stupid lyrics constantly in your ears sending garbage to your subconscious, ads trying to hijack your attention to sell you something, everyone trying to grab your mind in order to influence it in some way, propaganda, politics, gossip. Your own mind is vulnerable to all of it because of its primitive roots still in place.
Not curating your feed and what you see on social media is simply insane, but extremely common. Almost everyone is scrolling, being fed whatever the apps want them to see, without trying to change what they get fed.
Junk food is something, but junk information is probably as harmful if not more.
Constantly looking for shorcuts actually prevents you from advancing on the path.
If you spent all this time trying to be smart in actually doing, you would get where you want to go faster.
Just a reminder to all Sensitive Young Men that the best self-help book is the Great Man Biography. Reading about Napoleon, Alexander, or Caesar will set your nerves alight. These books can, have, and will change lives forever.
Recognize that some people use complaning as a weapon, to make their problems more salient and to get you to give importance to it. It’s weak behavior, don’t fall for it.
Optimism is a must. Belief is a must.
Be delusional about what you want. If you don’t believe you will do it, you will never do it.
Our actions also have much more impact over the world than we think.
“The world is a very malleable place. If you know what you want, and you go for it with maximum energy and drive and passion, the world will often reconfigure itself around you much more quickly and easily than you would think.”
―Marc Andreessen
