A conveniently free-to-read article about how Richard Hughes actually wanted to sign loads of good players and plug all the holes in the squad, but didn't because… well, never mind. The point is he thought about it a lot.
That's certainly changed my view of him!
🚨🌍 Ismaila Sarr’s agent Diomansy Kamara statement.
“Statement from Ismaila Sarr’s agent Diomansy Kamara: “The cases of Ismaila Sarr and Lamine Camara must all interrogate us.
“We have to get out of this logic where the African player can sometimes give the feeling that he is just a commodity: you buy it, you set its price, you negotiate its future and, too often, your will seems to go to the background.
“Our African players deserve respect. The respect of their work. The respect of their career. Respecting their ambitions. The respect of their voices.
“A transfer shouldn't just be a matter of two clubs and numbers. Behind every contract, there's a man, a career, dreams and life choices.
“The fact that clubs can sometimes have the final word is a reality of professional football. But one question remains: what about the career and the will of the player?
“The player must be able to be heard and respected in the decisions that determine his future.
“Let's never forget what's important: behind every success, it's the players who write history first.”
I don’t think people have deeped that he gave Salah a 2 year extension, helped terminate his contract a year early to protect the manager, and then sacked that manager the same window anyway 😭
What did Richard Hughes actually have to do this summer at #LFC?!
Victor Munoz was a release clause, Ronald Araujo was a loan, and the ownership group had to draft Amit Bhatia in to complete to Bradley Barcola deal.
He needs to be held accountable for this.
Sign an 18 year old goalkeeper for 35m to replace the 24 year old keeper you bought for 30m who you bought to replace the best keeper of the lot who you sold for £18m
Ladies and gentlemen I give you Richard Daniel Hughes.
I may be in the minority but I want to see #LFC operate in the £50-80m market - players like Munoz and Ekiteke who can grow. Or if we go big, go big on a Virgil to complete a team. Our transfer policy has pivoted and it’s been poorly executed this far.
Sporting Directors should be interviewed like Managers are. I’d love to see Hughes’ responses about this window and his Saudi job. Get him in front of a camera! #LFC
