@LeeHAuthor I used to buy the Bargain Pages in Birmingham every week, just to read these ads, as they obviously had a poor proofreader for a while.
"Male, early 50s, balding. Supporter of West Bromwich Albino. Seeks lady, similar".
Fair enough.
Dear people of (formerly) Twitter....I'm after some info. Do any of you remember the proposed UK tour by an American promotion called NWF circa 1991? Any information or memories you have of anything to do with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank ye kindly ๐
@LeeHAuthor@allan_cheapshot@johnlister Especially when these notebooks mentioned Wendy Richard being part of the tour. I assume he meant Wendy Richter, although it would probably have been more interesting to see Pauline from Eastenders in a match in 1991.
@LeeHAuthor@allan_cheapshot@johnlister I remember seeing it advertised at the time, and I've since found various references to it in the notebooks I've been going through. I don't think it happened in the end.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Scott Renwick. We spent a lot of time together going back about 20 years and he was always good fun. I wish I'd made more of an effort to stay in touch with him after finishing wrestling. Lovely guy and a great family man. RIP Butcher.
@LeeHAuthor They were clearly more familiar with him than this legendary man was, who referred to him as 'String' in his notes ahead going to see the Roar Power tour in December 1991 ๐
@PhilJones77@LeeHAuthor I was only 17 at the time of that show, so didn't get to experience that. It was just over two months before my debut at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone.
