Please note: the Conservatives For A People's Vote campaign was suspended prior to GE2019 and closed when the UK left the EU on January 31, 2020.
There are no plans to relaunch the campaign unless the UK and EU are unable to reach an amicable agreement.
Boris Johnson's #BrexitDeal is a harder Brexit than what was promised to the public in 2016.
@DavidGauke says that now we know what is, it should be put to the public for a #FinalSay against the option of remaining in the European Union.

Former cabinet minister @DavidGauke announces that he is standing as an independent candidate and declares his support for a confirmatory referendum.

No one knew what they were voting for in 2016, because no one could know the outcome of the negotiations with the EU.
Now that we have a #BrexitDeal people should be allowed to vote on whether it matches their aspirations.
True democracy demands a confirmatory referendum.
“We have gone ahead and made a decision about Brexit knowing nothing”
This audience member says that there should be another referendum on leaving the EU. #bbcqt
We wish her all the best with @thesmpledge and hope she stays on as a supporter of #C4PV.
Her message that a referendum is the only pragmatic and democratic solution to the Brexit deadlock lives on in our campaign, which will resume after a new parliament had been elected.
It has been an honour to have @JustineGreening as patron of our campaign.
When we launched in July 2018, she predicted that parliament would end up in deadlock over Brexit and that a #PeoplesVote would be the only way out of this. Sadly we are faced with another extension instead
It’s been a privilege to be MP serving our local community of #Putney#Roehampton & #Southfields since 2005. I’m stepping down not away & looking forward to ramping up @thesmpledge. Loved being in Parliament but as I once said, sometimes you’re better off out! 😉🌈#WatchThisSpace
Politicians and the media need to be honest with the public that the Brexit process will take years to complete.
This analysis of the length of negotiating and implementation periods of EU trade deals by @instituteforgov suggest that we will have to ask for many more extentions.
"It's literally worse than staying where we are" - @Nigel_Farage's claim that Johnson's #BrexitDeal is not a #ProperBrexit shows that no form of Brexit has a popular mandate.
We need a confirmatory referendum to find out what the real will of the people is
“Always trying ..”. Fabulous . A man who always stood up for what he believed in. And chided us all to do the same, with good humour and choice phrases .
This portrait hangs outside my Commons office. A titan of British politics, and one of my political heroes.
I've had some real 'is this happening?' moments as an MP - a lift across London in the back of Ken's car as he smoked his cigar and regaled me with stories one of the best
WATCH 📺: @JustineGreening questions whether it's possible to deliver on the 2017 Conservative Party manifesto. It said that both the #WithdrawalAgreement and future relationship with the EU would be agreed before the end of the #Article50 period, which is not being proposed now.
I totally agree the UK franchise for GE and Referendums should be consistent either just the citizens of the country ie Brits like in most countries or all long term residents. The Commonwealth franchise isn't logical as not even reciprocated for Brits living in most CW countries
Sir John Curtice predicts that no party will gain a majority in an early General Election.
This means:
▶️#BrexitLimbo will continue well into next year, and
▶️we need to ask Brussels for yet another extension, or
▶️face #NoDealBrexit on Jan 31st.

As long as MPs can't scrutinise the the #WithdrawalAgreementBill, the current state of limbo will continue.
Whether you want to Leave the EU, stay or compromise by holding a confirmatory referendum, this benefits no one.
Parliament showed last week it wanted to get on with the Bill – it’s the government that hasn’t allowed us to do so. So stop the self-indulgent focus on elections on both sides and concentrate on passing the Bill. If we’d done that last week, we could have finished it by now.
MPs will be debating an early General Election motion after 3.30 pm today, but is this a PRAGMATIC and DEMOCRATIC way to end the #BrexitLimbo?
🔹️No party is likely to get a majority
🔹️MPs only need about 1/3 of votes to win a seat rather than over 1/2 for a #PeoplesVote
"Repeating the question is not the right way forward" - we agree with @PhilipHammondUK that a simple rerun of the 2016 referendum is not what the country needs.
This thread explains the rationale for a confirmatory referendum on Brexit and the need for a different question.

Similarly @MPIainDS previously warned against assuming a democratic mandate from a referendum without a confirmatory vote on the actual deal:
"Only when the detailed legislation has been passed by the house can we go to the people and say to them: Is this what you wanted?"

Would @PhilipHammondUK back an amendment for a second referendum?
The former Chancellor says "probably not". But suggests a "compromise deal" with a "bit of give and take" between both sides could break the #Brexit deadlock.

To give some idea on what the question on the ballot paper could be, his colleague @johnredwood helpfully suggested that it should implicitly reference the actual deal on the table, i.e.
"Do you want to accept the new negotiated relationship with the EU or not?"
