I’m sure there are hateful comments towards Pono from various people but you’ll find none from me, maliciously directed at him.
I will absolutely criticize those who allowed or encouraged the article to be posted on the church’s social medias, and it’s not necessarily why you may think:
I didn’t find anything truly inspiring about the message. There was hardly any mention of meaningful service towards others. A lot of it was just “me, myself, and I”. I would expect to see more uplifting content from the church; this article really lacked anything to do with sacrifice or becoming more like Jesus Christ in any real way.
When you pull up to meet Caleb and he has the audacity to be gone! But I got to meet @ConservativeUT who is going to help us get the TPUSA chapter at my daughter's high school more active, so it wasn't all for nothing. 🇺🇸
I think it’s no secret that we are concerned about the de-masculinization of men that we have seen influence a portion of the culture from leftist ideologies in recent years but I don’t think it is the express purpose of @Mormonger to make good covenant-keeping people leave.
Many of us do, however, think that many ideologies you hold politically carry toxicity in the church. Particularly giving other members false hope that SSA members will someday marry in the temple (or that it will be a possibility), which is simply not the case.
We used to hear about the great sacrifices of men that served in war, that served missions under precarious conditions. The service of the down trodden and the widows.
I can remember the story Holland told about the two brothers out rock climbing and the sacrifice the older brother made for his younger brother.
All of these have something in common, sacrifice and selflessness. The most selfless act imaginable was the atonement of Jesus Christ.
This story talked a lot about Pono and himself: “Me, My, I, Mine”. There’s little to be inspired about with this post. So you can probably understand why this post by the church is Spiritually Underwhelming.
An issue we face is, if this I’d enforced within city limits, people are going to find a place to light them off anyways, likely further away from the city and close to higher risk areas. This may actually have the opposite effect that is intended.
Another possible solution is to have designated areas where people can light the fireworks off that are lower risk areas. Fireworks within city limits and away from dry brush are much less likely to start devastating fires.
@williejuancom@GovCox “It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminationsfrom one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”

@shoshonelder@carsenlcooper Too many in the Democrat party, Support the evil of abortion. Support for the largest genocide in human history, is a non-starter for me.
@Lily98525939978@carsenlcooper@NormieUtah I’m not so certain that we claimed they were Democrats, it’s more like they aren’t as conservative as we would like them to be. Still better options than a Democrat.
Full disclosure, I totally wrote-in Phil Lyman in 2024. The reason I did this, however, was because there is no chance at all for King to receive enough votes even with a third candidate on the ballot. We ended up participating in the biggest write-in candidate race is US history!
That being said, these are races are still important for Republicans to get behind. Well, I would still like to have candidates that vote more red and a little less green than some of these ones do, their policy positions are so much better than Democrats’.
Today I’m grateful for 6 Justices that can operate with a functional brain.
Say what you want about Trump, but he has helped save this country with his Justice picks alone!
🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court rules that asylum seekers standing in Mexico have not “arrived in the United States” under immigration law, meaning they aren’t entitled to inspection or allowed to apply for asylum until they actually cross the border.
@druidsrevolt Unfortunately, you’re absolutely correct. Utah has moved to the center. Especially in places like SLC we have no business running super conservative candidates. They just won’t win at all.
Definitely an upset in many ways for the Republican Primaries in Utah. I hope we can lick our wounds and move forward to help these Republican candidates win races against the Democrats.
Salt Lake County especially needs to be a focus where we have some crucial races to win.
@RadSquish I agree that some candidates are just not electable. Many need to moderate to a certain degree. Other candidates faced campaigns which had large amounts of funding making the grassroots fight an uphill battle
