@emmajchiappetta As an instructional coach, I��ve had teachers ask me “is this what you wanted?” The culture of compliance runs deep. We have to address it at every level, through our leadership empowering/trusting others to think for themselves. It took 3 yrs for my coachees, but they got there!

@anafabrega11 You so in computer science classes and in art. I’ve seen math classes where engaging problems are posed and kids tinker for days until they crack it. It has to be planned for and presented but it can be done.

@ejhudson @EduQuinn That was going to be my feedback precisely. In math and language you need daily practice- use it or lose it. But an intensive block to set a student up for an independent study in math the rest of the year could be neat. (Probably only appropriate for post-calc high school kids)
