Never trust people who hyperfixate on vague, seemingly unsolvable problems who complain chronically but offer no solutions. They’re not your friends, theyre black pill dispensers. However real Satan is, they are his agents here on Earth.
This is a complete LARP. Emily Wilson’s translation is just as valid as any other modern one and in many ways just as faithful to the original Greek. The notion that older translations are perfectly literal translations from the Greek is just wrong. Every translator makes interpretive choices
Here are the major WOKE changes she makes:
"Tell me about a complicated man” instead of “resourceful” or “many-turning”
"Slaves” instead of “maids”
"These girls” instead of “whores” or “sluts”
These subtle word choices do change how you read the poem, but the majority of people in a modern context would agree with the changes. Earlier translators added "whores" and "sluts" those are also not in the orignal homer.
The right has a childish obsession with treating the Odyssey like a sacred historical document rather than the ancient myth it actually is a story that’s been reinterpreted based on historical context for centuries.
“Everything is emptiness” is a subtly wrong description of the Buddhist view.
It’s more like: “because things lack intrinsic existence, everything is relational”. Emptiness being true is what allows that relationality.
Hence the equation in Buddhism that wisdom = compassion.
I don't even want to accuse you of worshipping a Jew, because that would be giving you too much credit by granting you the title of a Christian. You're just an online retard who panders to the Groyper fan base.
I went to high school with this girl. She had a crush on me. The same day she confessed, we were walking home when Netanyahu sneaked up behind us and yelled "BOO!" I let out such a gay squeal that she got the ick and never talked to me again. This is why I'm a Nazi.
And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers
But all that lives is born to die
And so I say to you that nothing really matters
And all you do is stand and cry
