This 🧵 won’t solve the defeatism pervading opinion journalism, but I hope it highlights a couple of fallacies in today’s Chronicle editorial, “Deporting Honduran migrants won’t solve S.F.’s drug crisis. The Chronicle’s investigation shows why.” (1/21)

I have a gas stove that is less than a year old. I made chicken noodle soup yesterday. I have an indoor air quality sensor. I like cooking with gas, but these concerns are real.

I'd like to have a real conversation about whether AI is a risk for human extinction. Honestly, I don't get how AI poses this risk.
What are your thoughts? And, who do you think has a thoughtful perspective on how AI poses this risk that I should talk to?
@coreysmith_17@mattdorsey Thanks, I agree with your suggestion, just trying to figure out how to make it more successful. I love the European idea of mixed high-density housing and retail, I just haven't seen many good examples in SF. I wonder what we're missing.
@jackiebo There's also the "strategy is what you don't do". The customer needs aren't changing, you're just meeting them better. Your strategy is how you can give something to someone faster or for less.
@mattdorsey@sfpublicworks Thank you for your continuous effort to keep bike lanes free of debris. I was amazed at how pristine Division was last Monday. It comes back quickly, but every bit helps. Flat tires from broken glass discourage bike commuting. Your work really helps.
@rands I stumbled upon this a few days ago and it inspired me to listen to a bunch of new music. The recent episode also talks about how to discover new music.
