The situation in northern Gaza is beyond catastrophic. Israeli occupation forces have destroyed about 90% of the buildings, leaving displaced families to seek shelter in schools. But over the past few months, these schools have also been targeted and destroyed. Now, thousands of people are sleeping on the streets without any shelter, with women and children forced to sleep on the ground. The end goal is to make northern Gaza uninhabitable in order to ethnically cleanse the remaining population to build settlements.

life of a journalist in North Gaza:

In order to film everything you see I need to put in my blood , sweat and tears . First , I need to charge my phone. To charge my phone, I have to walk miles to find electricity for both my phone and power bank. After filming, I need to find specific areas to upload my footage where I can get a good signal. With very limited transportation options, I also have to find a way to reach bombed locations, whether by car, ambulance, or even running.

At the end of the day, I often find myself starving, with my stomach growling. To keep moving, I need to find food. I scout the market for hours to find canned goods (if I’m lucky) and ingredients, but I’m unable to cook them. Most days, I just eat bread to sustain my energy. The most complicated part is finding a place to sleep. Ever since the IDF put a hit list on me, I’m careful about where I sleep to avoid endangering those around me. Every day, I move from one location to another, finding any empty spot I can as my bed for the night.

People are collapsing from hunger in southern Gaza. The price of a bag of flour has reached $200 instead of $7, that is, if it can even be found. There are no legumes, no vegetables, and not even humanitarian aid. The border crossing has been closed for a long time.

The famine has become brutally indescribable. Everything is outrageously expensive and unavailable. I am terrified of dying from hunger. I don't know how I will face God if I die starving rather than torn into pieces.

Today, I met my dad’s friend on the street. I honestly didn’t recognize him; no one looks the same after a year of genocide. I asked him how he had been doing. He said he had four sons, and one after another, they were killed over the span of a year. His last son and wife were killed last month. Now, he sleeps on the streets with no family. A vibrant man who once owned a house, a car, and a business is now deprived of everything, even his family.
