"It is impossible to live without failing at something.. unless you live so cautiously that you might as well have not lived at all... In which case- you failed by default"
-J.K Rowling
In a space where many make the deen feel heavy, @contentmints Ali Faagba makes it feel like peace.
Soft words, deep reminders, no pressure just pure impact.
If there’s any award for genuine, soul lifting online da’wah, it should go to him. No debates.
May Allah reward you abundantly, increase you in wisdom, and preserve your voice.
And may He grant me the means to sponsor my mom for Umrah & Hajj alongside your team. 🤲
😂 this is good.
A woman was causing trouble with our Hajj and Umrah company because she missed her flight during ME crisis.
I kept appeasing her and we tried until her money was refunded.
She felt the refund wasn’t enough, so she decided to get her lawyer to—maybe—write to us or what.
She got to lawyer’s office. Lawyer was my loyalist and diehard supporter since our day in legal studies.
lol. Basit, my guy. 😂
If it’s the way Basit used to speak about to me to people, I can only pity this woman 😭.
Once this madam said he said he knows you very well, I know Basit will not stop there 😂.
Woman’s about to get a 19-and-half-page essay on why I’m the best and most brilliant leader the world has ever seen.
Man judged my activity in student union, and thought I was the best thing to happen to the 21st century.
This is a friendship of over 13 years ago.
I’ve not seen AbdulBasit in a decade, but each time he shows up in my comments, that zeal and burning respect is still there.
It’s always like we’re living legal studies afresh.
AbdulBasit is frank, tough, upright, conservative, and rigid.
And I think if you asked any of my members, they’d pretty much say the same about me.
Reputation that’s stood the test of time. AlhamduliLlah.
God bless AbdulBasit! ❤️
I used one hybrid car in the UK.
The only reason I’ve not purchased it is that I can’t just afford it.
Not a sound, except the occasional electric whirring announcing that I’m starting or stopping.
I drive an EV, and I’m not going back to fuel or diesel.
The car is super quiet, and maintenance costs are low. I only need to worry about charging it.
While I’m at work, I leave it on charge. Once I close from work, it’s fully charged. I don’t notice any strange noises or gas smell inside the car. The driving experience is superb.
I recommend it🤝
Not gonna lie, the small hybrid I bought for madam dey always enter my eye anytime I drive am.
When Pman visited last Dec, he said motor iyawo re yi grade ju ti e lo. He would specifically request for it anytime he wants to go out 😅
@Adeofafrica I honestly didn’t.
I’ve never prayed for fame in my life. Not even once.
I only prayed for money and I’m still—sadly—not rich.
But Alhamdulillah.
I don’t detest it. I just don’t find it easy.
The question of Haram and Halal aside, our Sheikhs need to learn to set good examples.
This is the exact opposite of what was expected. And to whom much is given, much is expected.
I’m a fan of Sheikh (He got so much blessing), but this is totally uncalled for and doesn’t add any value to him or his family.
Instead, it reduced. And as soon as I saw this, I knew a day like this will come, not just where I thought it’d come from.
When Sheikhs begin to try to catch up with rich men, they often lose their identity and honour in the process.
Why?
Because rich men see it and feel “Oh! Is this who we are kneeling for?? So they’re like us, too.”
But that’s not the end. They can also see through the attempts of scholars to fit in where they are neither invited nor instructed to go by God.
Let’s put this in perspective and see:
Headline “The wife and children of Sheikh Faruq dance to loud music as the party rocks on.”
With a headline like that, all the myths of scholarship and spirituality totally shed. What’s left is just another family of socialites.
It’s scenes like this that marks the beginning of other upcoming preachers whose only value to the public is to show us their new cars, expensive wrist watches, and first class flight tickets.
They do these hoping to signal to rich men that they’re in the same circle.
Now that the rich know you’re after the very thing they have, good luck explaining to them why they need to listen to you.
Is it Sheikh now or his children who would preach to Muslim women to wear Hijab?
Or for Muslim women not to show us their pregnancy photoshoot?
With what credibility?
Beyond that, this has also created some illusions on who real Alfas are.
The way some folks from Nollywood and upper financial caste of the society approach me and the kind of conversation they have reveal a lot.
But I’ve always put the record straight.
I watched with dismay how Wasiu Ayinde openly disrespected him. Twice! Not once.
It all started from see finish like this.
Alfas lost control today not because they lost spiritual power. But because they forgot Allah honoured us with the Quran and tried to seek that honour elsewhere.
