Om over na te denken: In april 1946 legde nazi-kopstuk Hermann Göring in zijn cel in Neurenberg haarfijn uit hoe politieke macht écht werkt. Hij zei dat het gewone volk nooit om oorlog of crisis vraagt, maar dat je ze altijd meekrijgt. Het recept is simpel: vertel ze dat ze in gevaar zijn, en beschuldig de critici ervan dat ze de gemeenschap in gevaar brengen.

Die tachtig jaar oude formule is vandaag de dag de exacte blauwdruk achter de permanente staat van crisis waarin we worden gehouden. We zien het bij het conflict tussen Europa en Rusland rondom Oekraïne, waar angst wordt gebruikt om miljarden aan wapens erdoor te drukken zonder echt democratisch debat.

Maar het stopt niet bij geopolitiek. Hetzelfde recept zagen we bij corona, en nu bij het klimaat en de energietransitie. Het dringt door tot in onze directe leefomgeving, zoals de Omgevingsvisie Fryslân of de geplande afsluitingen van de Waddennatuur. Terwijl eilandbewoners buitengesloten worden, praat de elite op het Springtij Forum op Terschelling over dwingende 'systeemveranderingen'.

De controle op het narratief gaat inmiddels angstaanjagend ver. Ongehoord Nederland (ON!) wordt uit het publieke omroepbestel gegooid en via nieuwe wetgeving wordt er openlijk gezocht naar manieren om rechtse oppositiepartijen te kunnen verbieden. Dit is exact waar de geschiedenis pijnlijk begint te rijmen met de jaren 30, toen kritische media en partijen stapsgewijs werden gemuilkorfd onder het mom van de 'publieke orde' of 'veiligheid'.

De lijnen van dit gecoördineerde beleid lopen rechtstreeks naar internationale netwerken en denktanks zoals de NAVO, het World Economic Forum (WEF) en de VN met hun dwingende SDG’s. Via programma's zoals de Young Global Leaders worden politici wereldwijd klaargestoomd om in eigen land exact dezelfde crisis-narratieven uit te rollen. Onze lokale democratie lijkt wel een uitvoeringsloket geworden van een vooraf bepaalde, wereldwijde agenda.

De grote eye-opener die Göring ons naliet, is dat dit mechanisme in elk systeem werkt. Zodra een bevolking bang genoeg is gemaakt voor een onzichtbare vijand (of dat nu een virus, een agressor, stikstof of CO₂ is) levert ze vrijwillig haar vrijheid, haar pluriforme media en haar gezonde verstand in.

Angst is het ultieme wapen om de massa te sturen. Dit patroon stopt pas wanneer we stoppen met blindelings meegaan op die automatische piloot van angst.

Power selects for a specific personality type, and it is not yours.

F.A. Hayek spelled this out in 1944. In a centrally planned system, the people who rise are not the most competent or the most honest. They are the most willing to exercise force against strangers, the most comfortable with contradiction, and the most skilled at coalition-building through favors rather than merit. Government filters for the bad ones from the start.

The mechanism is straightforward. Political power means controlling resources you did not earn. Capturing that control requires outcompeting rivals who have no ethical constraints. A principled candidate refuses to promise contradictory things to different voter blocs. An unprincipled one does it without blinking. The unprincipled one wins. Repeat this selection pressure across hundreds of electoral cycles and you get the U.S. Congress in 2026: a body where the average member has held office for over a decade, raised millions from interested parties, and delivered almost nothing measurable to the people who voted for them.

Bureaucracy compounds the problem. Once entrenched, state agencies attract people who want authority without accountability. You cannot fire most of them. The FDA, the TSA, the Federal Reserve all function this way, staffed by individuals whose career advancement depends on expanding the agency's reach, never on serving you efficiently.

Nobody elected the European Commission, yet 27 commissioners sitting in Brussels write the rules that govern 450 million people's working hours, agricultural output, energy choices, and savings.

This structure is deliberate; Jean-Claude Juncker admitted it in 2015: "There can be no democratic choice against the European Treaties." Translate that, and it means your vote changes the furniture but never the architecture. National parliaments debate within a cage the Commission built.

The EU's regulatory burden costs European businesses an estimated 146 billion euros annually, according to the Commission's own impact assessments. Germany's industrial output fell 12 percent between 2022 and 2025 partly because Brussels energy policy made manufacturing uncompetitive against American and Chinese producers operating without those constraints. Meanwhile, the Common Agricultural Policy funnels 57 billion euros per year into subsidies that reward large landowners and price young farmers out of entry.

Prices coordinate information across millions of people better than any committee. When Brussels mandates energy price caps, timber quotas, or pharmaceutical approval timelines, it destroys the signals producers and consumers need to allocate resources correctly. Shortages follow. Then the Commission proposes new regulations to fix the shortages its previous regulations created.

The compounding is the point. Each intervention generates a visible failure, which bureaucrats cite as justification for the next intervention. Ludwig von Mises described this interventionist dynamic in 1929. Nearly a century later, Brussels runs the same playbook, and Europeans pay the higher prices it produces.

Weet je wat nu het smerigste is?
Onze dochter moet thuis wonen, en er is immers geen woonruimte. Ze werkt, is afgestudeerd, en wil keihard sparen om een huis te kunnen kopen. Dat gaat dus nooit meer lukken als ze boven de 30.000 belasting moet betalen over haar zuur verdiende geld. Ze zetten alles en iedereen klem om hun waanideeën te kunnen blijven financieren en de Nederlander te verarmen. Precies zoals ze graag willen. Verder moeten wij ons mond houden, ons op de bek laten slaan en van achter laten naaien. Leugens en propaganda slikken en als je twijfelt of kritische vragen hebt krijg je een dossier bij de AIVD, die toch iedereen al heeft (sleepwet en je bent een verdachte crimineel als je meer dan €100,— uitgeeft). Wegen, bruggen en dijken staan op instorten en (netwerk) corruptie viert hoogtij… maar zij gaan spaargeld extra belasten de 🤬🤬🤬. Hoekstra zal het geld van de kamerleden en ministers wel veilig hebben gesteld…

We are deeply concerned by the provocative statements and actions of the North Atlantic Alliance's leadership and NATO member states with respect to the Kaliningrad Region, an integral part of the Russian Federation.

We observe an unprecedented surge in the Alliance's military activity along our western borders. Initiatives aimed at containing the alleged “Russian threat” are expanding, with large-scale exercises rehearsing offensive operations.

In the Baltic region, the Alliance is constantly seeking to create new threats to our fleet, openly modeling specific scenarios for detaching the Kaliningrad Region and developing plans for the military and political isolation of the northwestern ports.

In January 2025, Operation "Baltic Sentry" was launched, aimed at testing mechanisms for the unilateral blocking of international shipping.

Simultaneously we are witnessing a sharp escalation in the rhetoric of Western military and political circles, particularly on the eastern flank. Deliberately raising the level of confrontation, they are making statements claiming that NATO has the capability to strike military targets in the Kaliningrad region and calling for new "aggressive" exercises to be organised near Russia’s borders.

The Alliance is conducting a large-scale information campaign to propagate the myth of the ‘Russian threat’ and to spread false information about Moscow’s alleged "intentions’ to attack one of the Baltic states by 2029 at the latest, or even sooner. Plans are being announced for the cross-border evacuation of the population"in the event of a major crisis".

At the same time, the statements repeatedly made by our country’s highest leadership - that it has no intentions or motives to initiate any military action - as well as the proposal to NATO countries to set out mutual security guarantees in writing, are being completely ignored.

❗️In light of the aggressive stance pursued by the bloc’s leadership and member states, the Embassy has conveyed our fundamental positions to the NATO International Staff and the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We have warned that the aforementioned reckless and irresponsible course of action sharply increases the risks of a direct armed conflict with our country. We have emphasised that Russia possesses the necessary means to repel any potential aggression and is prepared to deploy its entire arsenal to defend its territory should NATO countries attempt to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of our country.

We have called on the bloc’s member states to refrain from further escalatory statements and actions in order to prevent a large-scale confrontation.
