We are very pleased to announce that our Festival of Archaeology event for this year will showcase our recent community excavation in Weymouth for Dorset Council.
A spot of monitoring at the rather impressive Netley Abbey today. One of the last Cistercian abbeys to be built in England and a fine example of #monastic architecture.
Archaeologists have been trying to find a medieval manor at @CourtCrowcombe.
@QuantockLPS and @context_one have been working with dozens of volunteers on the dig.
It’s family weekend at the @CourtCrowcombe excavation for @QuantockLPS and here we are busy excavating a lovely #Victorian plate, and all before lunch!
The 3rd day of our #exavation@CourtCrowcombe for @QuantockLPS and a great day of digging. More occupation evidence including copious amounts of window glass and lead work, a 13th century Ham Green jug handle, a stone door jamb, and, of course, a brick-vaulted #victorian drain.
This time next week, we'll be getting ready to welcome #volunteers in search of a lost #medieval#manor for @QuantockLPS.

A #folly built in the 1770s on the hill above where we'll be excavating next week for @QuantockLPS may have used remains from the #medieval#manor...but where's the rest?
It's nearly time to find out and YOU can help! Register to #volunteer here: https://t.co/6XBzbekyDR

We’ve been finding all things 12th century at Bishop’s Waltham Palace. Last week a collapsed slate roof from the Norman antechamber (replaced in the 14th century) & today a wall and floor belonging to the same building. #englishheritage#bishopswalthammuseum#medievalarchaeology
