The MAIN reason I bought a new bike over used was FOR the warranty, and now they’re getting cold feet over a FILTER?! I spent thousands of dollars on a motorcycle that’s now effectively useless, I have no clue what happened, and as a customer I feel utterly betrayed.
Once I got it towed and sent back to the dealership to have it inspected, we didn’t hear back from corporate for a month. When we FINALLY heard back, they just shrugged their shoulders and said “Your filter isn’t from our factory, your warranty is null.”
Check oil, check engine, then BOOM. Immediately I hit the kill switch and pulled over (on the highway), and backed away from the bike because it had begun to smoke. BAD. There was oil leaking and pooling underneath and the entire bike was coated in it too.
I owned a brand new 2024 CBR 600 that had just hit 1000 miles, fresh oil change with brand new filter, with no reason to malfunction. On August 18th as I headed to my first day of university, I’m cruising when in a matter of a second and a half I see-
