@ByDougMcIntyre@FOXSoccer The idea that we’d never need technical players to break down low blocks or relieve pressure was pure arrogance from Tuchel.
And not backed up by any evidence: no country wins World Cups or Euros without them.
He should be sacked the minute the plane lands at Heathrow.
@sidlowe 1st half stats:
Argentina 55% possession, England 45%
Shots: Argentina 2, England 1
xG: Argentina 0.03, England 0.05
Let’s not overthink this, the widespread narrative is the correct one
@SportsUncensrd Rice is a very good premier league player and a very limited international player.
He wouldn’t get a game for Spain, France or Argentina.
England need to move on from him.
@5liveSport Exactly this.
He made mistakes, suicidal mistakes, but his huge ego will prevent him from accepting this and learning from it. Sack him now.
@philmcnulty Great summary Phil but I think we need to ask big questions of the senior players.
Kane, Rice and Pickford have all been a part of multiple, virtually identikit big-game losses.
We can’t keep the ball and/or relieve pressure when we need to, with that spine. Change is needed.
@FranklinDiiblac@markgoldbridge We have technical players, but the problem is that we don’t value them - we have Wharton, TAA, Palmer, Foden, Hall all on holiday, and Mainoo couldn’t get one minute. Disgraceful.
@mrdanwalker I’m sorry Dan but I don’t agree. England were a tactical mess against Norway too, thanks to his bizarre subs.
Reece James at CM for England?
We scraped through a couple of games and then capitulated. No different to Southgate. Change needed.
@England@FIFAWorldCup Get him gone. Don’t you dare give that arrogant coward a home euros.
- ludicrous squad selection
- reckless, incompetent substitutions
- £5m a year
If we’re going to lose, let’s do that trying to win
@CliveTyldesley Serious questions need to be asked about the on-pitch leadership of Kane, Rice and Pickford. They’re the common denominator.
We have to ask if they have the right mentality & skillset for these moments. They evidence suggests they don’t.
@MeInteresaa@GutoLlewelyn@Re7ceRevivaI No-one here can believe he did that… 🫠😫
There was a good piece by Michael Owen about England needing ‘football bravery’ recently, you should read it, he was so right!
Good luck in the final, we’ll be cheering for Spain in England! 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
@MiguelDelaney Couldn’t agree more.
- discarded world class talents
- selected several unfit players
- at the key moment, made reckless subs
An English manager would be sacked for this
@MeInteresaa@GutoLlewelyn@Re7ceRevivaI I don’t think England would park the bus, but running in circles after the ball like France did last night would be a bad idea - especially outdoors in 30+ Celsius!
Surely England will look to attack from turnovers in their defensive third, get the wingers in 1 v 1 situations
@GutoLlewelyn@MeInteresaa@Re7ceRevivaI I agree, England wouldn’t *need* to be the best team to win.
Spain would have more control of the ball. That is certain.
England however would be very dangerous from set pieces. That was enough for France against Brazil in 1998.
@SkySports_Keith They thought it might happen Keith, and yet left themselves wide open to another public embarrassment.
The next one to do this will be Trafford
@JoelBlandSport Could the club not have simply given him a deadline to sign by, then publicly withdrew if he didn’t meet it?
These endless PR disasters make the club look like a shambles. No wonder Bruno wants gone.
