Whenever I catch myself not reading things completely, I remember anti-intellectualism is on the rise, literacy is in decline, and I don’t want to be a VICTIM!

The federal minimum wage net pay is $1,256 a month.

Let that math sink in.

Someone working full time still comes up $744 short of just paying rent.

Before food. Before utilities. Before gas. Before anything.

This isn’t laziness. This isn’t poor budgeting.

You cannot budget your way out of earning less than your rent costs.

The federal minimum wage hasn’t changed since 2009. Rent has nearly doubled in that same time.

The system isn’t broken by accident.

And until wages catch up, which could take decades, generating income outside of one hourly job isn’t optional anymore.

It’s survival.
