@XFreeze I worked in the satellite industry for 25+ years. Closely evaluated all the satellite broadband companies - StarBand, DirecWay, WildBlue, Viasat, HughesNet, O3b, etc.
Billions invested over the years and not one generated a return on invested capital.

UN system: ~$65-70B/year total spend. Broader aid: trillions over decades. Extreme poverty still ~10% globally, progress stalled.
@RandPaul Same principle applies to banks that originate mortgages with no recourse. When they can make the loan and dump the risk on someone else.
Same is true for universities and the federal student loan program. They get paid upfront while the risk sits with taxpayers and the student.
ALS still has no cure, and families like ours keep fighting for awareness, research, and better treatments.
