CHRONICLES OF CRAZINESS: I called @ATT to pay off my deceased stepdad’s final wi-fi bill. I’m an authorized account user, but the service representative wouldn’t tell me the amount owed because I didn’t know his pass code. I explained that he died, so there is no way to get it …
He indulged me, probably out of curiosity.
It should it read: “His daughter spent 117 minutes on the phone with our customer service team, trying to do the right thing and pay her deceased stepdad’s final bill. If any more than $10 is owed, she said to shove the bill up our #&@!
She cited concerns about possible fraud. I said, “Surely my stepdad isn’t the first AT&T customer to die. There has to be a protocol for this.”
I was told there wasn’t.
I insisted on being escalated to a manager, who repeated the same talking points. …
I have a bill that says $10 is due by May 17, I told him.
He agreed to process the $10 on my credit card.
I asked if he would attach a note to the account. …
Do you get a lot of fraudsters spending 93 minutes on the phone with you, TRYING TO PAY OFF A BILL?” I asked.
The manager laughed and said he understood my point but nothing could be done without a pass code.
The manager suggested I try to guess the amount due. …

Last night we started the soft launch of the 2024-25 FAFSA® form.
During the soft launch, we will make the form available for periods of time over the coming days while we monitor site performance and respond to any potential issues. We will also be initiating pauses to the site, during which time the form will not be available while we conduct site maintenance.
Students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately during the soft launch. If you visit the site during a pause, check back later to access the form.
Visit https://t.co/4CKN2C1ymG for more information on what to expect during the soft launch.
Leading up to and as part of the soft launch, we have identified some minor issues affecting user experience. We are aware of these issues and are working to resolve them. For additional questions or to report an issue, please contact us here: https://t.co/TIpMseLSjC
@jmannies It truly is egregious. Basically, playing bingo apps can’t use that kind of data. I have smart TV and never come close to using that kind of data.
It’s shameful how @ATT treats older citizens. Folks (90 and 80 yrs old) were paying $170 month for wi-fi due to alleged overages. They don’t have smart TV etc. I made 2 trips to @ATT store, talked to techs, customer service. No one could explain why. Only wanted to upsell them.
@ATT I tried to fix but got disconnected after 65 min. w @ATT customer service. Called back, was transferred 4 times, still never reached original service person or resolved. I hung up after nearly 2 hours. Drove to store but told need talk customer service. 🙄
Got diff @ATT mobile wi-fi service but it doesn’t have phone. Mom decides resume using pay-as-go cell on Friday. She puts $30 from credit card on it. Phone initially works but goes dead Saturday. Take it to @ATT store only to be told she needs get new number etc. No refund $30.
Lambert Airport is filled this morning with soldiers from Ft. Leonard Wood excited to be going home from Boot Camp for the holidays. I used to cover the Army post when I was a correspondent for AP. The winter Exodus was a regular assignment. #USA#holidayexodus
Yesterday’s storm downed a dozen or so majestic trees at Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Columbia, Mo. My nemeses are still standing strong. So there’s that! @KOMUnews@KRCG13@CoMissourian@columbiatribune
