This claim is historically misleading and selectively framed.

Slavery did not begin with Islam. It existed in ancient civilizations—including the Roman Empire slavery system and Greek slavery system—centuries before Islam emerged.

The most industrialized and racially codified system was the Transatlantic Slave Trade, led by European powers and later the United States, where 12–15 million Africans were forcibly transported, with millions dying in transit. This system was uniquely brutal, hereditary, and race-based.

Islamic societies did practice forms of servitude, but also incorporated legal pathways for manumission, integration, and social mobility, which contrasts with chattel slavery in the Atlantic system.

Reducing complex global history to one civilization is not scholarship—it is distortion.
