Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and members of other nations went through the Soviet machine of terror. The overwhelming majority of them – simply for being who they were. Today, together, we honored the memory of those killed by political repression at the Bykivnia Graves National Historical Memorial Preserve and also laid flowers at the Memorial Sign of Polish Burials.

These historical events of Russia’s savagery remind us again and again that evil cannot remain unpunished; otherwise, repression and abuse return with renewed force. Now, when thousands of our people – prisoners of war and civilian detainees – remain in Russian captivity and are going through the same trials, it is important not to forget this. At all levels, the necessary efforts must be made to bring back each and every one of them. And above all, we must ensure that justice is served and that the criminals are held accountable for their actions. The free world has enough strength to ensure this.

Im Mai 2024 wurde Ryan al-Najjar Opfer eines familiären Hinterhalts: Sie wurde von ihrem eigenen Vater und ihren eigenen Brüdern gefesselt, geknebelt, erwürgt und anschließend lebendig in einen Sumpf geworfen, wo sie ertrank.

Vor Gericht erklärte diese islamische Familie, deren Vater sich übrigens mutig zurück nach Syrien abgesetzt hat und damit bewies, dass er ein falscher Flüchtling war, Ryan sei „zu verwestlicht“ geworden: Sie habe sich geweigert, ein Hijab zu tragen, habe sich geschminkt, einen niederländischen Freund gehabt, TikTok-Videos ohne Kopftuch gepostet und so weiter. Die Familie sah darin eine unerträgliche „Schande“ und betrachtete den Mord als einzig mögliche Lösung.

Sagt euch das: Es sind genau diese hasserfüllten Muslime, die uns dann als Hassende beschimpfen, weil wir uns weigern, solche islamischen Hassstrukturen bei uns zu verallgemeinern und zu dulden.

Today in Ukraine is another very hard day, really hard night – the day after a massive Russian attack. In just one night, there were nearly 300 attack drones, 19 ballistic missiles, as well as cruise missiles. Air-raid sirens sounded across many of our cities.

And this came after waves of “shaheds” had filled our skies just yesterday. Dozens of people have been injured. And sadly, so sadly, there are also lives lost in Odesa, Kyiv, in Dnipro. Just ordinary people, children, civilians, killed by Russian madness.

If it’s possible, please, I ask you now to honor their memory, and all those whose lives have been taken by this terrible war, with a minute of silence.
